'I dare not go home to celebrate Tet with my wife and children'

In the last days of the year, Thuong Tin had the opportunity to share his plans for welcoming the new year. Sharing with VTC News reporter, the actor confided that he has not yet decided whether to return to his hometown Ninh Thuan or stay in Ho Chi Minh City during the 2024 Lunar New Year.

"This year, I still have no plans to go back to my hometown because I have received several invitations to sing during Tet. If I go back to my hometown to celebrate Tet and then come back, the road is far away, and the cost of the holiday will also be high. I'm afraid of the cost so I don't dare go back to celebrate Tet with my wife and children," he said.

Thuong Tin said that during Tet 2023, he received many shows when performing in Hanoi, Kien Giang , Vinh Phuc, Quang Tri... However, this year there were very few shows, only invited to a few small events in Ho Chi Minh City.

During Tet, the actor still keeps his show fee at only 5 million VND. Thuong Tin does not want to increase the price because he wants the audience to love him, only then will he be supported on normal days.

On this occasion, Thuong Tin confided that he also wanted to have many invitations to earn more income to send to his daughter's schooling and to have a full Tet.

"For me, my daughter is the motivation for me to try hard every day. I live thanks to my daughter and do not expect anything. Seeing my daughter suffer, I cannot bear it. Even though it is hard, I am determined to go to work to earn money and send it back to my wife to raise our child," he confided.

Thuong Tin also said that he calls his daughter often to check on her. His daughter understands and encourages him not to be sad and to try to go to work.

Recalling the memories of celebrating the New Year with his wife and children in previous years, Thuong Tin said he also had warm and happy Tet holidays like many other families. Those are memories he will remember forever.

When asked about his memories of celebrating Tet in his heyday, Thuong Tin admitted that due to his old age, he did not remember very clearly. However, the actor said that at that time he was still healthy and famous, so he had many friends and colleagues.

"I remember that after visiting my family for a few days, I was invited to go here and there to celebrate Tet. At that time, I was still famous so I had many friends, so I was able to celebrate Tet everywhere," he said.

When he was famous, Thuong Tin was invited everywhere to celebrate Tet.

Recently, Thuong Tin's health has also deteriorated a lot. A few months ago, he suffered another stroke, but fortunately it was not too serious. Currently, the actor of the movie Saigon Special Forces can still do normal activities, but still has difficulty walking.

"Every year that passes, I feel weaker. Seeing my colleagues passing away one by one, I feel sad and heartbroken, but I don't know what to do. Every time I hear about someone passing away, I feel scared because I think I'm about to pass away too," the actor said.

Entering the new year, Thuong Tin's biggest wish is to have good health and receive many shows to take care of his daughter until he can no longer.

"My daughter is 8 years old this year so she is starting to understand things. Because I don't have money, I haven't been able to visit her for a long time.

I blame myself for letting my child lack many things. He needs to buy clothes and books for the new school year, but I have no money to send home, so I feel ashamed. I just wish I could earn a lot of money to send home so my child can live less miserable and not be inferior to his friends. That is my only wish right now!", he confided.

Also on this occasion, musician To Hieu - who is supporting Thuong Tin said he is encouraging the actor to take advantage of the Tet holiday to visit his wife and children in his hometown. He said he would lend him money if he was short of money, but Thuong Tin was still hesitant.

"I encouraged Thuong Tin to go home for Tet and come back early to perform, but he still hasn't decided. Thuong Tin is worried about the high travel costs, so he's reluctant to spend money. However, I think it's highly likely that he'll still come back for a few days," the male musician said.
