Tom Cruise is in talks to star in a film directed by Oscar-winning director Alejandro G.Iñárritu

The film is produced and directed by renowned Mexican director Iñárritu, starring Tom Cruise, with a script he co-wrote in 2023 with screenwriters Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris ( Birdman ), Sabina Berman. Plot details are still being kept under wraps.

Iñárritu (60 years old) won consecutive Oscars for Best Director for Birdman in 2015 and The Revenant in 2016. He continued to work on the next project Flesh and Sand in 2017 - a film that brings the audience to the perspective of migrants crossing the US-Mexico border. The project premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 and won a Special Achievement Oscar in 2018. In 2022, Iñárritu co-wrote, edited, produced and directed the film Bardo , which received an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography.

The project with Iñárritu is Tom Cruise's first film since signing a deal to develop and produce theatrical films with Warner Bros. Discovery in January 2024. His last project with the studio was Edge of Tomorrow a decade ago.

Cruise most recently appeared in Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning and Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed $567 million and $1.49 billion, respectively.
