General Secretary and President Xi Jinping visits General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

According to VNA, on the afternoon of July 20, at the Vietnamese Embassy in Beijing, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping visited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

After the funeral, General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping signed the condolence book in memory of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

"Deeply mourning comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, outstanding leader of the Vietnamese people, great friend of the Chinese people" - General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping wrote in the condolence book.

General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping also visited and expressed condolences to Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai.

Previously, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that on July 19, upon hearing the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people sent condolences.

The content of the telegram/letter is as follows:

"Upon hearing the news of the passing of Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people have lost a good comrade, a good brother, and a good friend. We deeply regret and send our deepest condolences and most sincere regards to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State and the people of Vietnam.

Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is a staunch Marxist and a great leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people. He has devoted his whole life to the cause of the Party and the Vietnamese State, making outstanding contributions to the cause of renovation and the cause of building socialism in Vietnam as well as the socialist movement in the world.

Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong is a close comrade and sincere friend of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people. He has inherited and promoted the traditional friendship of “both comrades and brothers” between the two Parties and the two countries of China and Vietnam, and forged a deep friendship with the Communist Party of China and the Chinese leaders. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, together with General Secretary Xi Jinping, elevated the China-Vietnam relationship to a Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, promoting the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam to continuously move forward. The Party, State and people of China will forever remember Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong.

We believe that the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people will turn sorrow into strength, inherit the will of comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, unite and strive to gain even greater new achievements in the cause of innovation and building socialism.
