In his speech, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the world is moving at an unprecedented speed, with AI, biotechnology, big data, etc. Countries that are at the forefront of innovation, science and technology, and digital transformation will go further and further.
“Innovation is not a destination but a process of continuous improvement without end. The origin of that spirit is daring to think extraordinary things, daring to do the most difficult things, daring to take responsibility,” General Secretary To Lam emphasized.
Earlier, in his opening speech at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the National Innovation Day 2025 had chosen the theme “Innovation for all people - Driving force for national development”. Through the theme of this year’s event, Vietnam not only recognized the role of all levels, sectors and the entire population in promoting innovation development but also continued to affirm that innovation is the driving force for Vietnam’s “breakthrough” and sustainable development.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, in 2025, Vietnam will maintain its position of 44/139 economies in the Global Innovation Index (GII), ranking 2nd in the lower middle-income group and 3rd in ASEAN. Notably, the innovation input index increased by 3 places, this is also the second consecutive year that Vietnam leads the world in the "export of creative goods" index.
The National Innovation Day 2025 and the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition 2025 take place over 3 days, from October 1 to 3.
This event affirms the determination of the Party and State in promoting science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, considering this a key driving force for rapid and sustainable development and enhancing national competitiveness.
According to Mr. Vu Quoc Huy, Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC, Ministry of Finance), the National Innovation Day 2025 and the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition are one of the activities to concretize Resolution 57/NQ-TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. This is not only an occasion to honor products and achievements of innovation, but also an opportunity to exchange and connect elements in the innovation ecosystem.
The event continues to affirm the strong determination and commitment of the Party and State in promoting innovation; affirming the strategic and central role of innovation in promoting rapid and sustainable growth, improving national productivity and competitiveness, and socio-economic development in the new period; at the same time, this is also an opportunity to honor and encourage new ideas and breakthrough creativity in all fields, contributing to the development of the innovation ecosystem.
This is the first time the National Innovation Day has been organized in collaboration between the Ministry of Science and Technology - the agency assigned by the Government to manage innovation, the Ministry of Finance and the National Innovation Center. These units have made efforts to implement many activities to promote and develop Vietnam's innovation system with positive results. The coordination demonstrates the determination to promote the combined strength and join hands to promote innovation activities in Vietnam.
