General Secretary To Lam leaves for state visits to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus and official visit to the Russian Federation

On May 5, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi for a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, a state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, an official visit to the Russian Federation and to attend the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, and a state visit to the Republic of Belarus from May 5 to 12, 2025.

The delegation included Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac; Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang (participating in activities with the delegation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation); Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; Minister of Public Security , General Luong Tam Quang.

Also participating in the delegation were: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Le Hoai Trung; members of the Party Central Committee: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Assistant to the General Secretary, Head of the General Secretary's Office To An Xo; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi, concurrently to the Republic of Azerbaijan; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan Pham Thai Nhu Mai; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus Nguyen Van Ngu.

The visit to four countries by General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation this time continues to be an important highlight in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, activeness, comprehensive, deep and effective international integration of the 13th National Party Congress.

This is also a visit to Russia and friendly countries of the former Soviet Union, especially Central Asian and Caucasus countries that have traditionally had good relations with Vietnam, have supported and helped Vietnam in the past struggle to defend the Fatherland and in the current national construction and protection; an opportunity for Vietnam to affirm its sincere and loyal feelings and desire to promote long-term, effective, substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation.
