Orbis Representative in Vietnam and leaders of the Department of Health presented gifts to the students.
The project, funded by Orbis, aims to reduce the rate of vision impairment and enhance knowledge for students. According to the implementation results report from November 2024 to May 2025, the project provided 50 E/Snellen eye charts, pinhole glasses and training materials to 25 schools in Yen Thuy district. Organized 2 training courses for 137 teachers and school health workers in 58 schools. Screened vision for 23,460 students, including 10,645 students from 33 schools in Da Bac district and 12,815 students from 25 schools in Yen Thuy district. Fully equipped with vision measurement and refraction equipment for 2 units at the Medical Centers of Yen Thuy and Da Bac districts. 801 glasses were provided, of which 76 students received free glasses, 440 students and 285 teachers received subsidized glasses. 6 students in difficult circumstances were awarded scholarships worth 3 million VND each and 15 students received small gifts.
At the program, Orbis Organization donated ophthalmic medical equipment to the provincial CDC and Da Bac District Medical Center.
Speaking at the conference, the leaders of the Department of Health sincerely thanked the Orbis Organization in Vietnam. The sponsorship and professional contributions from the project have contributed to bringing positive changes to the eye health of thousands of students in the mountainous areas of the province. In the coming time, the Department of Health is committed to continuing to direct its affiliated units, especially the provincial CDC and district health centers, to strengthen specialized training for medical staff and doctors, and improve the quality of refractive services in the locality. Strengthen inter-sectoral coordination to effectively integrate eye healtheducation into the curriculum, apply innovative methods such as STEAM and raise awareness of the whole society about the importance of eye protection.
