Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Elderly Association Working Committee, representatives of leaders of departments, branches, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, unions and typical units and members in the patriotic emulation movement "Old age - Bright example".

The conference listened to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuc - President of the Provincial Elderly Association review the tradition of celebrating 30 years of building and developing the Vietnam Elderly Association. Over 30 years, with 6 congresses, the Vietnam Elderly Association has continuously developed, always promoting the Dien Hong tradition, affirming the courage and intelligence to represent the will, aspirations, rights and legitimate interests of the elderly.

In Binh Thuan, the Central Representative Office of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly in the province was established on October 28, 1995. In 2002, the Provincial and District Representative Boards were established. Up to now, the Association's organization from the province to the grassroots level has been constantly consolidated and improved, with 121 grassroots Associations, 696 branches, and 2,820 association groups. The rate of elderly people in the province voluntarily participating in Association activities increased from 80% in 2015 to 90.8% today. Association members and the elderly actively participate in common patriotic emulation movements launched by the locality in conjunction with the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example". In the period of 2021 - 2025, the elderly in residential areas are always active and effective members in preventing crimes and social evils, participating in environmental protection, building new model rural areas, civilized urban areas, implementing the work of promoting education, promoting talents and mobilizing children in the family and residential community to do the same. With the spirit of “Old Age – Bright Example”, members and the elderly in the province determined to continue to unite, overcome difficulties to implement the Project “Elderly people participate in promoting digital transformation, green transformation, start-ups and job creation”; national strategy on the elderly to 2035, vision to 2045; participate in the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; replicate the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs, etc.

Attending the conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, commended the achievements of the provincial elderly association officials and members in the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" for the period 2021 - 2025. On that basis, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Elderly Association to continue to do a good job of caring for and creating conditions for the elderly to promote their role in participating in local political, economic and social fields. Along with that, mobilize all classes of elderly people in the province to continue to "Set a bright example" in the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas", especially building advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas. Encourage the elderly to participate in the activities "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" according to annual themes suitable to the conditions, abilities and health of the elderly.

Senior members perform cultural performances

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that the Associations at all levels should closely inspect and supervise the implementation of the State's policies and regimes for the elderly. At the same time, continue to propagate and mobilize the elderly who are still healthy and qualified to participate in economic development investment, production and business to get rich legitimately. Promote the experience and valuable assets of the elderly to participate in giving opinions on Party building, government building, contributing to building an increasingly clean and strong political system at the grassroots level.

Collectives and individuals received certificates of merit in the emulation movement

On this occasion, 7 collectives and 6 outstanding individuals were honored to receive certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their achievements in the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example", contributing to the socio-economic development in the locality in the period 2021 - 2025; 1 collective and 3 individuals received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in building and replicating the model of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in 2024, contributing to the socio-economic development in the locality.
