Consul General Doan Phuong Lan greets Busan City Vice Mayor Kim Gwang Hoe

On the afternoon of June 19, at Busan City Hall, Vietnamese Consul General in Busan Doan Phuong Lan paid a courtesy visit to Busan City Deputy Mayor Kim Gwang Hoe (in charge of economics and future innovation).

At the meeting, Busan City Vice Mayor Kim Gwang Hoe welcomed Ms. Doan Phuong Lan's appointment as the first Consul General of Vietnam in Busan, expressed his honor that Vietnam has established the headquarters of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan, and affirmed that he will actively support the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan to fully perform its functions and duties.

Informing that the scope of management of the Vietnamese Consulate General includes localities in the Southeast of Korea, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan affirmed that the Consulate General will, together with the Vietnamese Embassy in Korea, promote activities to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Korea in general, and between Vietnamese localities and localities in the Southeast region of Korea in particular, in all fields such as politics , diplomacy, security, defense, economy, education, science and technology and people-to-people exchange.

Consul General Doan Phuong Lan also emphasized that one of the priority tasks of the Consulate General is to support and protect the rights of Vietnamese citizens residing in this area.

The two sides agreed to actively promote friendly exchanges and delegation exchanges between Busan city and Vietnamese localities, including a visit to Ho Chi Minh city by Busan Mayor Park Hyung Jun in early September 2025 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between Ho Chi Minh city and Busan city; connecting Busan city's enterprises with Vietnamese enterprises in the fields of seaports and logistics; implementing activities to support Busan's small and medium-sized enterprises to learn about and penetrate the Vietnamese market; promoting cooperation in science and technology, innovation andeducation to meet the needs of both sides.

Consul General Doan Phuong Lan suggested that the Busan city government continue to issue favorable policies to help the Vietnamese community stabilize their lives and contribute to the development of Busan.

Appreciating the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Busan-Gyeongnam area, including students, workers, and Vietnamese women married to Korean men, Vice Mayor Kim Gwang Hoe hopes that Vietnamese students and children in multicultural families will continue to study and improve their qualifications to contribute to the development of Vietnam and Busan in the future, serving as a bridge connecting the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Korea.

On the same day, at the invitation of Vice Mayor Kim Gwang Hoe, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan attended the opening ceremony of the 8th International Marine Film Festival organized by Busan City and the Korea Marine Development Corporation.
