According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in South Korea, on June 20, the 2025 Vietnam Culture Week officially opened in Pyeongtaek city, 70 km southwest of Seoul. The event was hosted by the Pyeongtaek city government and organized by the Pyeongtaek Foundation for International Exchange. This is the first time the event has been dedicated solely to showcasing Vietnam.
Attending the event, which runs until June 26th, were representatives from the city government including Pyengteck Mayor Jung Jang Seon, the Chairman of the City Council, members of parliament representing the Pyeongteck area, and other relevant units. Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho also attended the event along with a large number of Vietnamese expatriates and local residents from Pyeongteck and the surrounding areas.

In his opening remarks, Mayor Jung Jang Seon affirmed that Pyeongteck has become a livable international city in South Korea. It is developing rapidly, built upon the foundation of Samsung's semiconductor industrial complex. Notably, Pyeongteck has a sister city relationship with Da Nang in Vietnam. Both sides have maintained exchanges and plan to further promote cooperation in various fields in the future.
Mayor Jung Jang Seon expressed his belief that this Vietnamese cultural event is a good opportunity to enhance understanding and exchange among the people of Pyeongteck.
This will also be an opportunity to alleviate homesickness for Vietnamese people living abroad. The Pyeongteck city government thanks the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism for their support in organizing this event successfully.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Vu Ho said that cultural exchange and people-to-people interactions between Vietnam and South Korea have become one of the foundations contributing to strengthening understanding between the two nations, thereby creating opportunities to promote many other fields such as trade, investment, and education between the two countries.
The Vietnamese Cultural Week is a precious gift for the Vietnamese community in Pyeongteck. Of the more than 300,000 Vietnamese people living, studying, and working in South Korea, about 3,000 reside in Pyeongteck and are contributing to the overall development of South Korea.
Ambassador Vu Ho stated that everyone has dreams and hopes, and that the dreams of Vietnamese people living in South Korea will come true. The Vietnamese Embassy hopes that the Peongteck city government will continue to pay attention to and support the Vietnamese community there.
Against the backdrop of increasingly developing Vietnam-Korea relations, it is hoped that the friendship between the people of the two countries will also flourish.
The opening ceremony of the Vietnamese Culture Week was held solemnly at the Baedari Library Garden in the heart of Pyeongteck city. The organizers arranged a lotus flower release ceremony to symbolize the pure and traditional beauty of the Vietnamese people.
The program organized a meet-and-greet with Cherry Hye Ri, a popular South Korean YouTuber with 1 million subscribers in Vietnam, to encourage people to learn about Vietnamese culture and tourism.
As part of the 2025 Vietnam Culture Week, the spacious grounds of the Baedari Library Garden will feature stalls showcasing Vietnamese handicrafts and cultural experience areas such as traditional Ao Dai dress wearing and bamboo pole dancing. During the festival, the organizers will also host performances of traditional Vietnamese and Korean art and music.
