Not long after Toyota revealed some information and images, on the morning of October 29, 2025, the all-new compact SUV Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 2026 officially appeared "in the flesh" before the public as well as the media participating in the Japan Mobility Show 2025 - Japan Auto Show (the new name of the former Tokyo Motor Show).

The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 2026 is a combination of the long-standing adventurous spirit of the Land Cruiser line and modern, youthful lines. The car is built on a separate body-on-frame chassis platform inherited from the Hilux and Fortuner, but has a significantly more compact size.

With an overall length of 4,575 mm, width of 1,855 mm, height of 1,960 mm and wheelbase of 2,580 mm, the FJ is 348 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser 250, clearly showing its urban orientation and flexibility in operation. Although smaller, this SUV still retains its inherent ruggedness, expressed through square lines, large wheel arches, thick C-pillars and spare tire mounted on the tailgate.

The new 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ front end design offers two different grille options: a classic style with round lights and a modern style with square lights combined with C-shaped LED strips.

The interior space of the cabin continues to carry Toyota's familiar minimalist style, focusing on practicality with hard plastic materials, a large steering wheel, a digital dashboard, a large central entertainment screen and separate air conditioning control cluster.

The muscular gear lever and a series of clearly arranged off-road function buttons emphasize the vehicle's off-road capabilities. Although details have not been announced, Toyota confirmed that the Land Cruiser FJ will be equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense active safety package, including the most advanced driver assistance systems.

Powering the FJ is a 2.7L 4-cylinder petrol engine coded 2TR-FE, producing 161 horsepower and maximum torque of 246 Nm, with a 6-speed automatic transmission and part-time 4-wheel drive system. This is a familiar engine type in the Southeast Asian market, having been used on the Hilux and Fortuner.

Toyota says the chassis has been reinforced to increase body rigidity, improving stability and handling in a variety of driving conditions. It has also conducted extensive off-road testing to ensure the smallest model in the Land Cruiser family retains its "off-road" credentials.

One interesting detail is that Toyota equips the FJ with removable front and rear bumpers, making it easy to replace when damaged and saving on repair costs. The company also suggests a variety of off-road accessories such as snorkels, side steps, ARB roof racks and MOLLE accessory panels in the rear trunk, showing a clear personalization orientation.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is a testament to the Japanese automaker's smart approach to reviving its heritage in a moderate, practical yet attractive way. According to the Japanese automaker's representative, Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be in Vietnam and launched in the middle of next year. The official price of this small SUV has not yet been announced.
