Toyota confirms end of sponsorship of Olympics and Paralympics

Toyota Motor President Akio Toyoda confirmed on September 26 that the company will not renew its 10-year contract as a top Olympic and Paralympic sponsor after the 2024 Paris Games.

On a media channel owned by Toyota, Mr. Toyoda said the world's largest automaker will continue to provide financial support to athletes.

Previously, the company revealed that it would not renew the contract when it expired.

Earlier this September, Panasonic Holdings also announced that it would end its 37-year contract as a top sponsor after being an official partner of the Olympics since 1987.

The International Olympic Committee recorded revenue of 2.2 billion USD from top sponsors in the period 2017-2021, the second largest source of revenue for the Olympic movement, after revenue from television stations with 4.5 billion USD in the same period./.
