Ho Chi Minh City: Additional support and tutoring activities can be arranged to improve integrated English quality.

Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the department has just issued instructions on some contents of implementing the teaching of the integrated program according to Project 5695 for the subjects of English, math, natural science, physics, chemistry, and biology from the 2024-2025 school year.

For secondary school level, the teaching time according to the British National Curriculum is 8 periods/week, including 3 periods of English, 2 periods of math, 3 periods of natural science. The Vietnamese general education program follows the 2018 GeneralEducation Program in the corresponding subjects each week: 1 period of English, 2 periods of math, 2 periods of natural science.

For high school level, the teaching time according to the British National Curriculum is 15 periods/week, including 4 periods of English, 4 periods of math, 7 periods of physics and physics cluster, chemistry and chemistry cluster, biology and biology cluster.

The Vietnamese general education program follows the 2018 General Education Program in the corresponding subjects each week: 1 English period for non-major classes, 3 English periods for English major classes, 2 math periods, 1 physics period and physics cluster, 1 chemistry period and chemistry cluster, 1 biology period and biology cluster.

For grade 12, teaching time and testing and assessment of English, math, physics, chemistry and biology continue to be implemented according to section 2 in semester I. In semester II, the school will implement teaching time and testing and assessment according to the Vietnamese program.

According to Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Vietnamese teachers and foreign teachers are responsible for coordinating to ensure the content and duration of teaching. Schools develop plans to test and evaluate subjects according to regulations, based on the guidance of the Department of Education and Training. Schools that teach 2 sessions/day can arrange more time to closely follow and improve the subjects of English, math, natural science , physics, chemistry, and biology to help students improve their learning quality, meeting the output standards required by the project.
