Ho Chi Minh City: An Phu intersection construction site in disarray, risk lasting until 2026

The An Phu intersection project, a key project at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, is in disarray, with many items sluggish and facing the risk of being late.

After many delays in the project's inauguration date, by early September 2025, this key project was still in disarray.

According to the original plan, the project would be completed before April 30, 2025. However, due to slow progress, the project completion date was postponed to the end of 2025, but this plan is also difficult to achieve.

An Phu intersection is the intersection of three major traffic routes including Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Mai Chi Tho Street, and Hanoi Highway. Due to the large volume of traffic on these three routes, traffic jams often occur at the intersection at An Phu intersection.

The project is constantly late, causing traffic insecurity.

According to the Project Management Board, the entire project is now nearly a year behind schedule. Many packages have only achieved very low levels: the N1.1 and N1.3 overpass packages are only 11-15% complete; the HC1-02 (XL6) package is 19 months behind schedule. The HC1-01 underpass, which was scheduled to open to traffic in April 2025, has also been postponed to the end of June 2025 because the drainage pumping system has not been completed.

Luong Dinh Cua street area still has more than 22,000 square meters of land.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has repeatedly issued "ultimatums" asking contractors to speed up construction.
