The existing Nguyen Khoi Street is narrow.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Hieu, a resident who has lived on Nguyen Khoi Street for more than 30 years, shared: “My house was moved back 7 meters and received compensation of 180 million VND/m2. When the State had a policy to build a bridge on Nguyen Khoi Street, my family and the locals all agreed, because they wanted the road to be wider, traffic to be more convenient, and business to be easier.”

The Nguyen Khoi bridge-road project has a total length of nearly 5 km, starting from Hoang Tung Mau street (old District 7), the main bridge over Te canal goes above Nguyen Khoi axis, continues over Ben Nghe canal and connects to Vo Van Kiet avenue (old District 1) through two branches N7 and N8.

The bridge section is 2.5km long, the road section is more than 2.3km long, combining the branches down to the old District 4 and the service road system. When completed, the project will open up an important traffic direction, contributing to reducing pressure on Kenh Te Bridge - one of the hot spots for traffic jams in recent years.

Currently, the local government is still actively supporting people to relocate, arrange resettlement, resolve compensation regimes, ensure legitimate rights, and create high consensus in the community.

The fact that people simultaneously dismantled and gave up land shows the spirit of supporting the city's key infrastructure projects, joining hands to build a more modern, synchronous and civilized urban appearance for the South of Ho Chi Minh City.
