Experience Liquid Glass interface on iOS 26

iOS 26 introduces Liquid Glass design, advanced AI features, support for iPhone 11 and later. New updates for optimal experience.

Live Translation iOS 26 features Live Translation, now built into Messages, FaceTime, and Phone. This lets users communicate in multiple languages, translating text and audio in the blink of an eye. Live Translation is powered by Apple-built models (running directly on the device) to keep user conversations private.

Visual Intelligence Upgrades With iOS 26, users can use Visual Intelligence to search and act on content they’re viewing in any app. They can ask ChatGPT questions to learn more about a particular subject, or search Google/Etsy/… to get images of similar products.

Order tracking Apple Intelligence can automatically detect and summarize order tracking information from emails sent by sellers and carriers, allowing users to see all order details and progress notifications in one place (even for purchases that don't use Apple Pay).

Many new functions for the Phone app . According to Apple, the Phone app on iOS 26 has a Unified layout - gathering information of Favorites, Recents and Voicemail contacts into one area.

When an unknown number calls, the system will not ring until it receives a voicemail from the caller. After that, the user can consider whether to answer the call or not.

In case the user has to wait for the phone, the Hold Assist feature will notify the user when a live support staff answers. In addition, the Phone application also has a Call Screening feature (based on the Live Voicemail function) to help users avoid distractions. More specifically, the system will collect information about the caller and provide the necessary details for the user to decide whether they should answer the phone or not.

A few changes to the Messages app. The Messages app in iOS 26 can filter messages from unknown senders, giving users more control over who shows up in their conversation list. Messages from unknown senders will appear in a separate folder.

iOS 26 also adds custom backgrounds for messages (users can create unique backgrounds to match their conversations using Image Playground). Thanks to Apple Intelligence, the Messages app on iOS 26 can identify and suggest polls when needed (very useful in group chats).

New Apple Games app . Apple says Apple Games brings all your games together in one place, allowing you to enjoy the games you love, find new ones, and have fun with friends and family. You can also see news about all your games so you don’t miss important events and updates.

The Games app is also the best way to experience Apple Arcade, Apple’s game subscription service with over 200 award-winning and critically acclaimed games for the whole family. Apple also lets you challenge other players online or offline.

Changes to CarPlay. In iOS 26, Apple CarPlay has a more beautiful and easier-to-use interface (compact view for incoming calls, directions, etc.). iOS 26 also brings Tapbacks and pinned conversations to the Messages app on CarPlay, and thanks to Widgets and Live Activities, users can stay informed without losing focus on the road.

Apple Music app. Apple Music on iOS 26 has Lyrics Translation to help users understand the words to their favorite songs, and Lyrics Pronunciation to help people sing along regardless of language. In addition, iOS 26 also adds the AutoMix feature to Apple Music. This function uses AI to transition from one song to another “like a real DJ” (using timing and beat matching technology to seamlessly transition songs).

Apple Maps on iOS 26 has a Visited Places feature that helps users remember places they've been. Users can choose to have their iPhone detect when they're at locations like restaurants or stores and see all the information in the app.

iOS 26 can now use on-device intelligence to better understand a user's daily commute, showing them their preferred routes home or to the office, as well as alerting them if they're running late and suggesting alternate routes.

According to Apple, the features of iOS 26 will be released in the fall of 2025 in a free software update for iPhone 11 and later. In case you want to experience iOS 26 early, you can join the Apple Developer Program to update to iOS 26 Developer Beta. Meanwhile, the public beta version of iOS 26 will be available in July 2025.
