Blacka was unexpectedly mentioned by name in a rap attack by a young rapper. Following pressure from the audience, the runner-up of Rap Viet Season 2 responded with a song.
Recently, Vietnamese rap has been buzzing with musical battles between rapper groups from the North and South. Amidst this chaos, Blacka was unexpectedly mentioned in a song with offensive language. Immediately afterward, Blacka posted on social media the messages between him and the rapper who dissed (attacked) him. The post by the runner-up of Rap Viet attracted over 1,000 comments.
In a battle between lesser-known rappers, Blacka unexpectedly became the center of attention. Many viewers flooded his posts with attacks, urging him to escalate the situation. They wanted Blacka to retaliate, specifically by releasing music. At the same time, his opponent made further provocative moves. Ultimately, Blacka decided to jump into the fight.
Blacka responds
From the beginning, the feud between young rapper groups, including the attacker Blacka - Rocky CDE - was unrelated to Blacka. However, due to an unfortunate incident, the former Rap Viet Season 2 contestant was dragged into the conflict.
Then, a series of problems arose for Blacka over the past two days. The rapper couldn't remain silent. He released a series of old messages to prove that the rapper on the other side had asked him for help before the conflict occurred. Conversely, the rapper attacking Blacka claimed to have a lot of evidence and was ready to escalate the situation further.
Immediately, Blacka became the hottest keyword in Vietnamese rap. As is customary whenever there's a "storm" in the rap scene, the audience jumps in, some praising him, others criticizing him. Blacka was challenged by a segment of the audience to jump into the fray, just as he had done when he was in the underground scene.
On the other hand, viewers dug up everything about Blacka's past. Anti-fans, who already had a grudge against Blacka, seized the opportunity to attack him.
Then, when the tension reached its peak, Blacka decided to take a step back and compete against a lesser-known rapper. On the morning of February 25th, Blacka released his new song. Gloves Blacka directly targeted Rocky CDE. In the opening bars of the diss track, Blacka wrote: "You're the big guy among the small / The small guy among the old / Sometimes you're a bit old-fashioned / You're old, you refuse to fight / But when you fight, you fight."
Wowy's student countered Rocky CDE's arguments, accusing him of being ungrateful and asserting that he only cared about increasing his account balance.
What started as a battle between young rappers has now become unpredictable with Blacka's release, potentially triggering a series of dramas. Just an hour after its release, the song... rap diss Blacka's song is causing a sensation in the Vietnamese rap scene.
Blacka's Paradox
It's no coincidence that audiences, especially rap fans, pay special attention to Blacka when his name is mentioned in the battle. The rapper, born in 1997, has been active in Vietnamese Rap for around 15 years. From the beginning, Blacka has become famous through fierce rap battles, even creating "legends" that are still discussed in Vietnamese Rap today.
In 2021, Blacka participated in Rap Viet season 2, subsequently becoming a contestant under Wowy's tutelage. Thanks to this milestone, Blacka's name spread far beyond the underground scene. He was Wowy's "star performer," easily making it straight to the finals. Blacka lost to Seachains in the race for the championship, but in terms of potential for further success, Wowy's protégé was still considered superior.
After the game show, Blacka had an excellent springboard for his career. The rapper also became very active, releasing a series of products over the past three years. However, the runner-up of Rap Viet repeatedly failed in the race to become a "trending" Vietnamese music star. As a result, when Rap Viet went on for two more seasons and many new rappers emerged, Blacka's title as the runner-up gradually faded into oblivion.
Twelve days ago, Blacka and Arthur released their music video. "Want to Be Loved ." The new product from the runner-up of Rap Viet currently only attracts over 16,000 listens/views on YouTube. This number shows that Blacka's appeal has almost hit rock bottom. The male rapper invests more than most of his peers, but the problem remains that his music lacks appeal.
With just the incident of being mentioned by a younger artist and having their name featured in a song, Blacka's name went viral more than the previous three years combined.
Blacka was caught between the musical styles of underground rap and mainstream rap. In the Vietnamese rap scene, many rappers face a similar situation, possessing strong skills and distinctive rap/hip-hop personalities. However, when they move into the mainstream, facing numerous challenges outside the realm of rap, these rappers are left behind in the market.
Blacka has changed a lot since joining Rap Viet season 2, but his musical style remains purely underground. Audiences say they didn't recognize Blacka in his releases over the past three years, especially his new music video released just 12 days ago. However, when Blacka released diss tracks, the situation reversed, and he immediately gained audience support.
