Notably, this is also a record number of viewers for a match at the SEA Games. The previous record was 1.8 million viewers.

Returning to the final match, U22 Indonesia won the SEA Games 32 Championship after defeating U22 Thailand with a score of 5-2.

This is also the first SEA Games Championship after 32 years of Indonesian football.

Notably, in this match, referee Kassem Matar Al-Hatmi issued 7 red cards and more than 10 yellow cards to players and coaching staff of both teams.

After the brawl on the Olympic field, Head of the Indonesian U22 delegation, Sumardi said: “Actually, I tried to stop everyone but I was the one who was beaten. I was not seriously injured. This was just part of the scuffle.”

Coach of U22 Indonesia, Indra Sjafri, said that U22 Thailand was the team that initiated the tense situations on the field.

“The referee announced 7 minutes of injury time, so when the time was up, we thought the match was over and jumped onto the field to celebrate without intending to cause trouble with anyone.

Unexpectedly, the referee gave us 11 minutes of extra time. When we had equalized 2-2, Thailand rushed to our place to provoke us, making the match crazy,” said Mr. Indra Sjafri.

Meanwhile, center-back Jonathan Khemdee said that it was referee Al-Hatmi's decisions that led to the clash between players and coaching staff of the two teams.

"The referee made many mistakes and that's the reason for the fight," said the U22 Thai player.
