On the morning of June 4, at Hong Quang Primary School, Nam Truc District, Nam Dinh Province, a working delegation of the Vietnam Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Association (PCCC and CNCH) in coordination with the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Nam Dinh Provincial Police presented a Certificate of Gratitude from the Vietnam Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Association and a support amount of 5 million VND from the "For a Peaceful Life" Fund to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, a teacher at Hong Quang Primary School, to recognize and honor her brave act of saving people.

Previously, at around 6:30 a.m. on May 26, while on her way from Nam Dinh City to her hometown, at the Do Quan Bridge area (Tran Hung Dao Ward, Nam Dinh City), Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai discovered someone struggling in the Dao River. Without hesitation, despite having just spent two sleepless nights taking care of a relative at the hospital, Ms. Mai immediately found a way down to the dike, ran along the riverbank for nearly 100 meters and jumped into the whirlpool to save the person. The victim was a 12th grade female student at a high school in Nam Dinh City.
With experience in teaching physical education, especially swimming, along with her calmness and emergency handling skills, Ms. Mai swam more than 50 meters to the middle of the river, approached and brought the female student safely to shore. After being reassured and cared for on the spot, the victim stabilized and returned home.

The courageous act of teacher Nguyen Thi Mai quickly spread throughout the community, causing strong emotions on the media and social networks. She not only saved a life but also conveyed a profound humane message about courage, responsibility and kindness, the noble qualities of a teacher in modern society.

The Vietnam Fire Prevention and Rescue Association always respects, recognizes and spreads the brave actions of individuals who are willing to protect the lives and safety of others. The gratitude to teacher Nguyen Thi Mai is not only a specific recognition but also a sincere thank you from the community for a noble act, contributing to enriching the tradition of humanity and affection of the Vietnamese people.
