Not only the author's private memories, "That place is the battlefield" also encapsulates the common memories of a generation that experienced the fierce and painful years of war.
Writing a few more lines for the book's reprint, author Pham Quang Nghi said that when writing the preface for the book's reprint, he always felt very lucky to still be able to keep the diary pages of a fierce wartime.
To him, those were the notes of a man who at that time had moments when he did not believe he could live to see the day the country was peacefully unified.

Author Pham Quang Nghi spoke. |
“The diary pages were written quite regularly every day in somewhat unusual moments. There were pages written along the march. There were pages written during the days when the guns were silent. But there were many, many pages written amid the bright bullets flying over the roof of the tunnel at night or while the malaria was tormenting me. And there were even a few pages that I opened now to see if there was blood on them...”, author Pham Quang Nghi shared.
Through the realistic and vivid diary entries, each reader can feel more deeply the meaning of the struggle to liberate the country as well as the sacred value of peace.
