Speaking at the opening of the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy said: Resolution 57-NQ/TW, issued by the Politburo on December 22, 2024, establishes a strategic orientation, with a consistent vision: science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are not only decisive factors for sustainable development, but also the "best opportunity" for Vietnam to become a developed, rich and powerful country in the new era.

In that context, agriculture and environment - two areas under great pressure from climate change, resource depletion, environmental pollution and water security - have been identified as "strategic areas" for breakthrough implementation.

Conference to deploy the "Plan to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation" in the fields of agriculture and environment.

The traditional agricultural production model based on manual labor, high input costs, low added value... is no longer suitable.

Meanwhile, trends such as circular agriculture, multi-value agriculture, green transformation and digital transformation are becoming increasingly urgent.

“To change the situation, we must innovate our thinking and ways of doing things, and take science, technology and digital transformation as the foundation for development,” Minister Do Duc Duy affirmed.

According to assessments, in recent times, the agricultural and environmental sectors have made many advances in the application of science and technology and digital transformation: from high-tech agricultural models, smart livestock farming to automatic environmental monitoring, digitization of land, forest and meteorological data. However, to meet the requirements of "development breakthrough" as in the spirit of Resolution 57, the sector still has much to do.

The Minister said that this conference focused on thoroughly grasping and implementing 7 groups of key tasks and solutions specified in Decision No. 503/QD-BNNMT dated March 27, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

In addition, the conference is also an opportunity for delegates to discuss and propose priority solutions to create a turning point in the application of science, technology and digital transformation into practical industry development.

Minister Do Duc Duy hopes that the conference will be a positive first step, promoting the process of realizing major orientations in Resolution 57-NQ/TW into the practice of the agricultural and environmental sectors.

With the support of localities, businesses, scientists and the media, and strong determination to act, the industry can completely break through and form new growth drivers in the digital age.
