This event is part of a series of activities towards the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026) and to serve the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

Also attending and visiting the exhibition were Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, National Assembly deputies of the 15th tenure...
At the exhibition, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other Party and State leaders and National Assembly deputies listened to an introduction to the history of the National Assembly Daily - a newspaper that focused on reporting on the purpose and significance of the first General Election on January 6, 1946.
After gaining independence, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam faced the urgent need to "organize as soon as possible a General Election with universal suffrage". In that context, along with the newspapers "Cuu Quoc", "Su That", "Lao Dong", "Dan Chu"... the daily newspaper "Quoc Hoi" was published with the purpose of propagating the value and significance of the General Election for the destiny of the Vietnamese nation.

The National Assembly newspaper also explains the General Election rules to help Vietnamese people understand the rights and duties of voters in choosing their representatives to participate in the National Assembly; at the same time, it helps candidates for National Assembly deputies have a common campaigning body to introduce their achievements, capabilities and action programs.
The National Assembly Daily was a special newspaper, published for a short period of time (from December 17, 1945 to January 6, 1946) by the General Election Committee in the North. Although it only published 15 issues and operated for 21 days, the National Assembly Daily made an important contribution to the propaganda for the General Election.
The first general election to elect the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on January 6, 1946 (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) was a major historical event, opening the process of building a new democratic regime in our country. The widespread propaganda about the purpose and significance of the general election contributed significantly to the propaganda and mass mobilization work. The first general election to elect the first National Assembly was a complete success with a voter turnout of up to 89%.

Towards the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly and to serve the Eighth Session of the 15th National Assembly, the Office of the National Assembly organized a thematic exhibition "National Assembly Daily with the first General Election (January 6, 1946)", helping delegates and viewers to better understand the atmosphere of preparation and developments of the first General Election.
The exhibition consists of 2 parts: Part I - National Assembly Newspaper with the first General Election (January 6, 1946); Part II - Displaying the original collection of 15 issues of the National Assembly Newspaper.
