Six months after his first exhibition, Sitting and Coloring , artist Vu Hoang Tuan continues to evoke dreams in the public with a new series of paintings with names as ethereal as the artist's soul.
Still with a neutral color palette rich in narrative and magical, floating scenes, the emotions of the 25 paintings "Floating Away" are somewhat fresher, gentler and more sensual, on display until June 22 at Maii Art Space (District 3, Ho Chi Minh City).
Empty in the picture, but full in the heart
Still quiet and sparing in words about what he paints, artist Vu Hoang Tuan said that he has put everything he wants to say on the wall. So the viewer can just "drift along" with the ups and downs of their own hearts and leisurely stroll around admiring the paintings.
This series of paintings has clearer and softer colors, less tormenting and tormenting, more neutral and refined shapes, leaving room for deep, endless color spaces.
A couple of boats resting on the beach, the golden sand dunes stretching as far as the eye can see, the rows of trees leaning against each other, the sea and sky blending into a clear blue... The paintings capture the viewer's eyes, gradually sinking into the surreal dream of the colorist.
There, artist Vu Hoang Tuan also fell into a dream, dreaming and painting, drifting along with his own endless dreams of joy and sadness. The paintings, like the people, were pensive, condensed, a little sad and filled with silent gaps. Quiet but full of throbbing.

As painter Phan Trong Van said, Vu Hoang Tuan's paintings "are like a dream that is both old and strange, as light as early morning clouds, but "looking at it for a long time makes it stick, and once stuck, you will always love it".
He doesn't tell stories with details, but with... spaces. Empty in the paintings, but full in the heart. And the way everything is quiet, unpretentious like the painter himself."
For artist Vu Hoang Tuan himself, drawing is a joy, and he chooses to diligently do the work he loves in silence. Continuing to color the floating dreams, in sadness he always strives for peace and conveys the desire to communicate with life.
"Being able to work according to your passion is already a happiness, and being able to live by that passion is even happier. Because everyone needs to live.
"Just be diligent, be sincere with yourself and with life, then hopefully you will receive sympathy from everyone. I just hope to be like that, then I will be very happy" - Vu Hoang Tuan wrote.

Floating is also a way of existence
Happy about the second solo exhibition of his former teacher, who also inspired him to enter the art school, artist Nguyen Duy Nhut expressed: "So after many years of 'silently holding a brush like an old hunter holding an old gun', artist Vu Hoang Tuan has decided to pour out all his heart and soul to create an art exhibition that is as floating as his own soul.
The name of the exhibition sounds so light. A whisper, but also like a leisurely sigh in the midst of this bustling world.
Viewers will see rows of trees leaning as if whispering stories, lonely roofs on sand dunes, and boats nestled next to wild mountains.
Everything appears in simple, flat lines, but strangely not lifeless. It's as if someone has secretly poured into every corner of the painting a little wind, a little memory, a little immensity that is hard to name."

Compared to his first exhibition, this series of paintings by artist Vu Hoang Tuan has been commented by many colleagues to be more carefully polished. Based on familiar color palettes and compositions, the artist has gone deeper into refining the materials and more subtle tones.
The size of the paintings is also selected evenly and arranged to suit the space, creating a harmonious, easy-to-feel and seamless exhibition.
"Not innovative, not shocking, not harsh to prove any breakthrough, Tuan seems to intentionally let everything float as the name suggests, so that the viewer is not pressured by concepts or images but can drift with emotions.
It's very much him - that him is different from before, but still him. Not noisy, just quietly continuing on his path. Perhaps for Tuan, floating is also a way of existence, and enduring existence is sometimes the most significant thing in today's art world with so many changes" - painter Phan Trong Van emphasized.

Vu Hoang Tuan's neutral and narrative color palette
Each painting is like a moment of silence in the hustle and bustle.
Vu Hoang Tuan paints a lot about the sea, but not only the sea of the Central region but all three regions.
The painting is minimalist in lines but evokes a lot of imagination for the viewer.
The paintings are increasingly simple
Images both familiar and strange, half real and half dream
All evoke a feeling of "lightness" for the viewer.
