Trong Nhan: From 'super kid' to promising young cai luong actor

On the cai luong stage, especially the traditional cai luong stage, recently a young actor has emerged who is loved by many audiences. That is artist Trong Nhan.

Trong Nhan was born in 2004, only 21 years old this year but has begun to be welcomed in some notable cai luong projects. The young man has contributed to bringing a new breeze to the cai luong village which is currently being "complained" about lacking a successor team.

Trong Nhan: The main double prospect

Recently in the traditional opera San Hau , the graduation play directed by young artist Quynh Anh, Trong Nhan moved the audience with the character Khuong Linh Ta.

It can be said that this is one of the classic roles in the famous San Hau play. Trong Nhan was lucky to play the character Khuong Linh Ta.

And the young man showed that he knew how to seize the opportunity when he shined in the segments that scored points with viewers.

The dance forms are difficult to approach with the opera in the symbolic scene where Khuong Linh Ta's head falls to the ground but his body still gropes to find his head and keeps following to support Dong Kim Lan.

The scene of Khuong Linh Ta's soul lurking in the woods, guiding Dong Kim Lan and Trong Nhan through the trees, created a feeling of floating in nothingness, making viewers burst into emotions, sympathizing to the point of tears. And then, rounds of applause rang out to cheer for the character, cheer for the young actor.

Before that, Nhan also had the opportunity to appear in a series of plays that each time left an impression on the audience. Some examples include Giang Son My Nhan (as Pham Lai), Ben Nuoc Ngu Bo (as warrior Le Liem), Tay Son Nu Tuong (king)...

Nhan was noticed for his bright stage presence, strong voice, and beautiful dance skills, so he was extremely suitable for the roles of handsome and charming actors. Not only that, he was also given the opportunity by director Huu Quoc and producer Binh Tinh of the Huynh Long troupe to try his hand at the role of clown Thap That in the play Tan Mai Trang Se Duyen .

With this role, Trong Nhan was praised for his charming acting and the audience was surprised to discover another ability of the young actor. With this diversity, if he tries hard in his career, Nhan is expected to go far.

Fate with foster mother Binh Tinh

When he was in 5th and 6th grade, Trong Nhan liked to sing folk songs. Then someone from the Don Ca Tai Tu Club in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City came to the school to recruit some young singers to participate in the Golden Lotus competition for the district.

That was the chance for Nhan to know about amateur music and reformed opera through the guidance of teacher Minh Duc. Then Nhan's aunt played him a tape of reformed opera, and without realizing it, the boy was hooked.

In 2017, Nhan competed in the Super Kid Talent Show and was destined to be on the team led by artist Binh Tinh. They reached the end and Nhan won 3rd place in the competition.

Binh Tinh remembers that back then Nhan was... very chubby, a bit small but he sounded mature and steady.

"After the competition, Nhan stuck with me. When the Huynh Long troupe restarted in 2019, I asked him if he wanted to come back, and he agreed immediately. So I made a ceremony at the ancestral altar and adopted Nhan as my adopted son" - Binh Tinh said.

Trong Nhan is truly a "product" trained by Huynh Long. From his clumsy, immature days to his current rise to stardom, it is thanks to the daily guidance of artists Binh Tinh, Huu Quoc, Huu Hue...

Nhan confided that after his biological parents, Binh Tinh is the most important person to him: "Tinh's mother takes care of me and teaches me about my spirit and career. She is also the one who takes me to shows to gain stage experience and earn extra income.

To the best of my ability, I also try to explore and be creative in my performance and singing style, emphasizing to make it interesting and new.

Every time like that, I sing and ask for opinions from Binh Tinh's mother, Mr. Nam Huu Quoc and the seniors in the profession to see if it's okay, if it's too much and if there's anything that needs to be edited.

Nhan also said that not only at Huynh Long, when there are projects at other stages, he also takes the opportunity to participate to learn.

Like the role of Khuong Linh Ta, he honestly expressed that to be able to conquer the audience, it was not only personal effort but also the advice and guidance of artists Tu Suong, Trinh Trinh, Xuan Truc, Son Minh... and the hand of director Quynh Anh.

"I am planning to take the entrance exam to get a formal acting degree. I also want to be able to participate in many other fields such as music, movies, drama... to become a versatile artist. But in the end, what I still want is to "take advantage" of the affection of young audiences in other fields to promote, help them understand and love Cai Luong, the subject that I am most passionate about" - Trong Nhan confided.

People's Artist Huu Quoc is currently the director and artistic advisor for the Huynh Long classical opera troupe. He considers Trong Nhan to be an intelligent, capable, and hard-working young actor.

"Because I admire artist Vu Linh, my singing and acting style is somewhat influenced by my idol. I'm still young and have a long road ahead. Winning the audience's affection is difficult, maintaining that affection for a long time is even more difficult.

"Cai luong tuong co is very energy-consuming in performance, so Nhan still needs to know how to divide his energy to maintain his breath, and must be aware that this profession still has a lot to learn. He must try to learn every day" - Huu Quoc shared about his student.
