Referee punched on the field sent a complaint to the police

Ho Chi Minh City Referee Le Tuan Kiet - who was assaulted at the amateur football field - sent a petition to the police to denounce the violent behavior of player Hong Quang of Quang Ngai Businessmen team (DNQN).

On the evening of January 11, referee Le Tuan Kiet reported the incident to the police of Ward 15, District 11. Afterwards, Mr. Kiet sent two petitions, including a request for injury assessment and a criminal complaint, to the police in hopes of handling the assault of player Nguyen Hong Quang of Quang Ngai Business Team.

This morning, January 12, referee Le Tuan Kiet was referred by the Forensic Medicine Center, under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , to the Hoa Hao Center for injury assessment. "I am still here waiting for the results. My face and jaw are still in pain, making it difficult to eat and talk," referee Kiet told VnExpress in a voice broken by pain.

In the 20th minute of the match of the 2024 S7 Veterans Online Business Tournament at Phu Tho Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City between Cealdon and Quang Ngai Businessmen (DNQN), referee Tuan Kiet blew the whistle for a foul by a DNQN player and was suddenly punched hard in the face by player Hong Quang, causing him to be stunned and collapse on the field. After a while of medical care, Mr. Kiet was transferred to the position of table referee, to be replaced by another colleague.

The tournament organizers then imposed a fine of 10 million VND on the DNQN team. At the same time, on the afternoon of November 10, the head of the tournament organizers and the captain of the DNQN team met directly with referee Kiet at the Thong Nhat Stadium meeting room to inquire about the incident and send 10 million VND in medical expenses. However, player Hong Quang has yet to meet or call to inquire about or apologize directly to Mr. Kiet.

Referee Tuan Kiet, from Long An, is a futsal referee for the Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (HFF). In addition to refereeing futsal tournaments organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), he is also assigned to work in many amateur tournaments.
