Responding to reporters, Mr. Lam Kiem emphasized that China expressed strong dissatisfaction and resolutely opposed the EU's imposition of sanctions on companies from the world's second largest economy .

"China has never supplied weapons to any party in the conflict in Ukraine and strictly controls the export of dual-use goods," the diplomat asserted.

Today, most countries, including EU members and the US, trade with Russia.

Therefore, Mr. Lam Kiem said: "We call on the 27-member bloc not to apply double standards in trade and economic cooperation with Russia."

Previously, on December 16, the European Council announced that EU Foreign Ministers had officially approved the 15th package of sanctions against Moscow.

Specifically, the alliance added 54 individuals and 30 organizations, including entities from China, India, Iran, Serbia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to the sanctions list against Russia.

This is the first formal sanction against entities in the Northeast Asian country. Chinese entities will face travel bans and asset freezes.
