Hanoi ready for the signing ceremony and high-level meeting of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime

On October 25-26, Hanoi will be the focus of international attention when hosting the Summit and the Opening Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime. The event has special significance, not only marking an important step forward in global cooperation on cyber security, but also demonstrating Vietnam's proactive, responsible and prestigious role in the international arena in promoting a safe, fair and humane cyberspace.

The signing ceremony and High-Level Conference of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, or the Hanoi Convention, is an opportunity for the international community to discuss solutions to enhance coordination and respond to increasingly complex global cybersecurity challenges. The Hanoi Convention complements existing UN frameworks on responsible behavior by states and affirms the importance of multilateralism in addressing transnational challenges. In particular, the Convention's emphasis on the protection of human rights and data privacy is extremely important, ensuring that efforts to combat cybercrime do not undermine fundamental freedoms. The event was attended by President Luong Cuong, senior Vietnamese leaders, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, and representatives of more than 140 countries and territories, international organizations, and cybersecurity experts. In the context of the world still having many differences in cyberspace management, Vietnam has demonstrated its flexible and skillful mediation capacity in multilateral diplomacy , contributing to building international consensus.
