After attending the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, UN Secretary-General António Guterres flew with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits in Malaysia.

The conferences, taking place from October 26-28, are the highlight of Malaysia's 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, with the participation of leaders of ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste, leaders of partner countries, guests of the 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship and the United Nations Secretary-General.

With over 15 high-level meetings and activities, leaders are expected to discuss and agree on important directions and measures to strengthen cooperation, expand linkages, effectively exploit new growth drivers and effectively respond to emerging challenges, thereby contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

In particular, it is expected that at the 47th ASEAN Summit, ASEAN will officially admit Timor-Leste as the 11th member, opening a new chapter in ASEAN's development history.

Regarding documents, the leaders are expected to sign, approve and acknowledge nearly 80 documents to promote cooperation within ASEAN and between ASEAN and its partners in many priority areas, especially economics and trade.

The ASEAN Summit takes place at a time when ASEAN is preparing to enter a new phase of development, with a new vision. These conferences will be an opportunity for leaders of countries to exchange strategic decisions, consolidate a peaceful and stable environment, facilitate development, and promote more substantive and effective regional connections...
