The signing took place during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to China.

The statement said French state-owned utility EDF and Chinese nuclear power group CGN, both major operators of nuclear power plants, had signed an agreement to renew their long-standing partnership. Agreements were also signed between EDF and China Energy Investment Corporation on offshore wind energy.
Earlier in the day, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with President Macron in Beijing, discussing bilateral relations and international issues of mutual concern. The two leaders called for peace talks to resolve the Ukraine issue "as soon as possible." President Macron expressed confidence that China could join in finding a solution to the current Russia-Ukraine conflict and bring all parties involved back to the negotiating table.
This is President Macron's first visit to China in four years. For Mr. Macron, who is facing protests at home over pension reforms, the visit is also an opportunity to score an economic victory, with around 50 big business leaders accompanying him.
