Long An Lieutenant Colonel, martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao (40 years old), who sacrificed his life while intercepting a car carrying drugs, was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Government .
The decision to grant the Certificate of Merit was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on May 22.
Earlier on the afternoon of April 21, Lieutenant Colonel Hao was conducting a drug investigation in My Hanh Nam Commune (Duc Hoa). Discovering a 5-seat car belonging to the suspects, he and his teammates stopped the car to check. The driver did not comply and crashed the car, causing Lieutenant Colonel Hao, Mr. Huynh Nguyen Chi Man (29 years old) and Mrs. Phan Thi Kim Thanh (50 years old) to die.

The car then flipped over, police had to break the window, restrain the driver and another person. Long An Provincial Police have prosecuted and detained Nguyen Van Thanh (46 years old), the driver of the drug truck, for murder . Four others are being investigated for transporting, storing, and illegally trading drugs.
The Ministry of Public Security has decided to promote police officer Nguyen Xuan Hao from major to lieutenant colonel.
