Thai Binh College of Culture and Arts: Innovation and creativity to meet the requirements of training high-quality human resources

The predecessor was the School of Cultural Information Vocational Training established in 1975. Up to now, the Provincial College of Culture and Arts has gone through 50 years of construction and development. With innovation and creativity in teaching activities, the school has affirmed and maintained its brand of training quality cultural and artistic human resources, especially in the fields of Cheo art, traditional musical instruments, fine arts... From this school, many talents have not only contributed to the locality but also spread to art units across the country, enriching the country's art garden.

Proud milestone of each generation of teachers and students

After the country was unified and entered the construction and development stage, on July 5, 1975, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to establish the Thai Binh Cultural and Information Vocational School. In 1978, the School was assigned by the Ministry of Culture and Information to provide training to the Northern provinces. During this period, the district-level cultural house management class organized by the School opened in Dong La commune (Dong Hung) and was honored to welcome the Minister of Culture and Information to attend and give the first lecture. From the effectiveness of training work, in 1988, the Provincial People's Committee decided to upgrade the school to a College of Culture and Arts. In 2005, the Ministry of Education and Training decided to establish the Thai Binh College of Culture and Arts on the basis of the College of Culture and Arts. The School is a unit under the Provincial People's Committee, and in 2017, it was professionally managed by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs . Over the past 50 years, Thai Binh College of Culture and Arts has been flexible in its teaching activities, with up to 25 different professions trained by the school, meeting the practical needs of the locality and the country. The school has trained more than 6,000 secondary school students, more than 3,000 college students, and has cooperated in training nearly 2,000 university students; in addition, it has coordinated short-term training and fostering for tens of thousands of cultural and information officers and Cheo singing and dancing cores for the grassroots cultural movement...

Currently, along with continuing to train at intermediate level, short-term training in culture and arts, and fostering artistic talents according to social needs, the School is training 6 college-level majors and 8 intermediate-level majors. In which, the main majors are actors in traditional theater (cheo), traditional musical instrument performance, vocal music, western musical instruments, dance, painting, library, cultural management, tourism, graphic design... On average, the school maintains a stable 400 - 500 students and trainees each year. The comprehensive qualityof education is improved, the cultural and artistic human resources trained by the School meet the requirements of developing the cultural sector for Thai Binh province and other provinces and cities across the country. Every year, the graduation rate reaches 96%, with 60 - 75% being classified as good or excellent. Students and university graduates have stable jobs, especially in the fields of Cheo performing arts and traditional musical instrument performance, more than 90% have jobs and good incomes after graduation. In the Cheo art field alone, the school's students are present in 16/18 Cheo theaters/troupes nationwide. Many students have become excellent artists, people's artists, and achieved the title of young artistic talent through art festivals held annually...

Coordinate performances and promote art forms

Practically supporting students, since its establishment, Thai Binh College of Culture and Arts has closely coordinated with cultural and artistic schools nationwide, theaters, art troupes and especially the Provincial Literature and Arts Association not only in training but also in performing and promoting art forms. In the field of fine arts, the school, through lecturers who are members of the Fine Arts Association and the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, has organized many exhibitions attracting artists from within and outside the province to participate; at the same time, it encourages students and lecturers to actively send their works to domestic and international exhibitions in person and online. Many lecturers and students have had their works won awards and exhibited domestically and internationally, contributing to promoting the image of Thai Binh land and people. Most recently, student Lai Thanh Quang, Faculty of Fine Arts of the School, won first prize in the "The World Around Me" drawing contest for people with disabilities, co-organized by the Vietnam University of Fine Arts. In addition, the school's lecturers, in coordination with members of the Fine Arts Association, organized many live drawing and exhibitions attracting students from primary and secondary schools in the province to participate, helping them understand more and increase their pride in the cultural traditions of their homeland and country...

In the field of theater, under the roof of Thai Binh College of Culture and Arts, many generations of students have been directly taught and passed on their skills by artists of the Cheo Theater, members of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association. In current artistic activities, there are many famous young artists nationwide who are students of the school such as Meritorious Artist of National Defense (Head of Group 1, Hanoi Cheo Theater), Lieutenant Colonel, People's Artist Thuy Linh (Army Cheo Theater), artist Tuyet Tuyet, artist Bui Thi Thuy... Many major art programs of the province have had the participation of students of the school such as the Vietnam - Korea cultural color contest in the series of activities of the cultural exchange program - connecting Vietnamese - Korean enterprises "Thai Binh Homecoming Day"; the art program celebrating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Thai Binh town, 20 years of construction and development of Thai Binh city...

Carrying out the mission of nurturing and nurturing artistic talents, Thai Binh College of Culture and Arts has been honored to receive the First, Second and Third Class Labor Medals from the Party and State; and many noble emulation titles from central and local ministries and branches. In the new development stage, the school continues to actively participate in implementing the province's political tasks, socializing cultural and artistic training, and moving towards international cooperation to train a number of professions that society needs, thereby contributing to improving the school's training quality.

Students of the school performed at the ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the town's liberation and 20 years of building and developing Thai Binh city.
