This afternoon, June 16, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) officially announced information on regular university enrollment in 2025, including detailed regulations on candidates applying for admission under the comprehensive admission method.
Up to 99% of the quota is reserved for the comprehensive admission method.
This year, the school enrolls students in standard programs (41 majors/majors), English-taught programs (27 majors/majors), and other special training programs.
The total expected enrollment target is 5,550 students, of which 3,605 are for the standard program and 1,380 are for the English-taught program.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoang Thang - Head of Training Department of University of Technology - this year the school applies a comprehensive admission method for the majority of candidates, along with the direct admission method according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the school's regulations.
Direct admission method according to the admission regulations of the Ministryof Education and Training and school regulations: 1 ~ 5% of total quota.
Comprehensive admission method includes criteria on academic ability, other abilities, and social activities: 95 ~ 99% of total quota.
In addition, the school also has other special training programs:
International Bachelor of Engineering Joint Program between the University of Technology, Sydney and the University of Technology, Sydney UTS, Australia (TNE): 200 quotas;
Advanced program: 150 targets;
Japan Orientation Program: 70 targets;
International transfer program (Australia, USA, New Zealand): 145 targets;
International transfer program (Japan): 20 quotas (admission of new students admitted to the standard program in electrical and electronic engineering);
Vietnam - France High Quality Engineer Program (PFIEV): 200 targets;
Talent program admission after 1 year of study;
The Vietnam - France high-quality engineering program recruits new students who have been admitted to the University of Technology and have an admission score equal to or higher than the standard score of the corresponding major.
Students who wish to transfer from the standard program to the Vietnam - France high quality engineering program must follow the specific regulations of this program.
The talent program recruits students with excellent academic performance after semester 2 (first year) and meets certain conditions as prescribed.
8 candidates for general admission
The school has announced details of 8 candidates applying for admission under the comprehensive admission method in 2025.
Candidates applying for standard programs, taught and studied in English, advanced, Japanese-oriented, talented, high-quality engineers Vietnam - France, international transfer (Japan):
Subject 1: Candidates with the results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam
Subject 2: Candidates without results of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Exam
Subject 3: Candidates who graduated from foreign high school programs
Subject 4: Candidates who graduated from Vietnamese high school program, using international admission certificates (SAT I, ACT, IB, A-Level...)
In case candidates use international certificates not included in the above list, the admissions board will consider and evaluate each case specifically.
Candidates for the Australia/USA/New Zealand international transfer program:
Subject 5: Candidates planning to study abroad under the school's international transfer program;
Candidates for the international bachelor of engineering joint program between the University of Polytechnic and the University of Technology Sydney UTS
Subject 6: Candidates who graduated from Vietnamese high school program with an average score of 8.0 or higher for the entire 12th grade year
Subject 7: Candidates graduating from foreign high school programs
Subject 8: Candidates using international admission certificate (SAT I).
Total admission floor score 50/100 points
Regarding the admission combination, Mr. Thang said: "The combination of admission subjects has been adjusted to suit the 2018 general education program. If a candidate has more than one combination, the combination with the highest admission score will be taken."
The school also announced the threshold to ensure input quality (floor score) of the comprehensive admission method is 50 points on a 100-point scale.
If the candidate has more than one subject, the subject with the highest admission score will be taken.
In case candidates have IELTS Academic certificate ≥ 5.0/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 46/ TOEIC listening - reading ≥ 460 and speaking - writing ≥ 200, it will be converted to English subject score in high school graduation exam results and high school study score for admission combinations using English subject.
English input standards
The school also requires candidates to have a minimum level of English proficiency for some programs.
Advanced, international transfer programs taught in English to Australia, USA, New Zealand: IELTS ≥ 6.0/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 79/ TOEIC listening - reading ≥ 730 & speaking - writing ≥ 280
In case of achieving IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 60, TOEIC 04 skills (listening - reading 590 and speaking - writing 230), Duolingo 95, Linguaskill and FCE 167, PTE 42, CAE 180: will be considered for temporary admission to the international program and must complete the additional English standard requirement within 1 semester.
The school only accepts valid international academic English certificates.
International Bachelor of Engineering Joint Program between the University of Technology, Sydney and the University of Technology, Sydney UTS: IELTS ≥ 6.5 (writing skill ≥ 6.0)/ TOEFL iBT ≥ 79 (writing skill ≥ 21)/ PTE ≥ 58 (writing skill ≥ 50)/ Cambridge C1A/C2P ≥ 176 (writing skill ≥ 169)/ UTS College AE5: Pass.
