On the morning of June 4, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Mai Huong, Head of the Brand Management Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the school received complaints from students about some individuals and organizations outside of the school committing acts of fraud by posting fake announcements of winning scholarships and requesting payment of review fees under the International Bachelor of Engineering Joint Program.

Fake announcement of admission

The international bachelor of engineering joint program, jointly offered by the school and the University of Technology Sydney, is currently enrolling its first cohort in 2025.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology confirms that it has not issued any announcements about the successful student exchange program to the University of Technology Sydney in the past. All registration and scholarship review processes for students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology are carried out on a strict system, via email and the school's official electronic information channels.

Specialized departments and offices will regularly monitor and update information to students. Although students may have been equipped with basic skills to identify scams, they need to be highly vigilant against increasingly sophisticated tricks.

"Fake invitations often have many grammatical and spelling errors, inaccurate information, inconsistent information, lack of transparency and incorrect presentation of the format," Associate Professor Huong warned.

In case of receiving information from students, parents need to contact the school to verify the accuracy and authenticity of the issued documents. In case parents and students need to verify information or have questions, please contact the Student Affairs Department via email [email protected].

The leaders of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology said that the scene has not recorded any cases of fraud, but this is a warning for students and parents to be vigilant.

Previously, yesterday, June 3, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy also issued a notice requiring candidates to absolutely not transfer money to receive admission exam notices.
