On September 19, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc attended the conference summarizing 10 years of international cooperation and training at Cuu Long University.
Attending the Conference were Mr. Samlane Phankhavong - Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao PDR; Mr. Longphanh Phaodavanh - Consul in charge of Culture and Education, Consulate General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City; leaders of the Consulate General of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City; Ms. Trinh Thi Tam - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Sri Lanka; leaders of the Development Department, Ministry of National Defense (Cambodia); delegates from Svay Rieng and Kampong Speu provinces (Cambodia); leaders of corporations, institutes, and companies from Japan, Australia, Taiwan, India, etc.
On the side of Vinh Long province, there was Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors. On the side of Cuu Long University, there were the University Council, Board of Directors, senior advisors of the Board of Directors, representatives of leaders of Faculties, Offices and Centers under the school.

International cooperation and training imprint
At the Conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc acknowledged and highly appreciated the school's achievements in international cooperation and training over the past 10 years of Cuu Long University.
"The results achieved by Cuu Long University, one of the first private schools in the Mekong Delta, show that the potential for international cooperation is still very large and needs to be encouraged," Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc emphasized.
The Deputy Minister said that the Politburo has just issued Resolution 71 on breakthroughs in education and training development, along with Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, and Resolution 59 on international integration. According to the Deputy Minister, these are important steps to continue the Party and State's policies for the education sector.
In particular, international cooperation is very important for the development of Education and Training. Therefore, the goal is to attract international students to at least 1.5% of the total number of university students in Vietnam by 2030. "Resolution 71 also sets the goal that by 2045 our country will be in the top 20 best education systems in the world," the Deputy Minister added.

Speaking at the Conference, Associate Professor Dr. Luong Minh Cu - Party Committee Secretary, Rector of Cuu Long University said that the university's network of partner units for the period 2015 - 2025 has expanded to over 20 countries. During this period, the university has signed more than 98 memorandums of understanding, cooperation agreements, and contracts in principle with foreign partners.
Up to now, the school has trained more than 600 international students, most of whom come from Laos (384), Cambodia (164) and other countries such as Japan, Korea, India, Sri Lanka, Germany...

Many future directions
According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dung - Vice Principal of Cuu Long University, in the coming time, the university will expand its international network, establishing relationships with universities and research institutes in developed countries such as Japan, Korea, Australia, the United States, Canada and ASEAN countries.
At the same time, promote cooperation with foreign enterprises to create a bridge between training and the international labor market. Implement 2+2, 3+1 joint training programs, allowing students to study partly in Vietnam and partly in the partner country.
Develop international dual degree or joint training programs, especially in fields such as Information Technology, Business Administration, Nursing, English Language, and High-tech Agriculture...
To achieve further achievements in the future, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc acknowledged the proposals of Cuu Long University. Including the organization of exams and granting Vietnamese language certificates in Laos. This issue has been directed by the Ministry's leaders to amend and supplement related circulars.
The Deputy Minister also requested Cuu Long University to continue expanding cooperation with other countries in the coming time. Create the best conditions for international students to study at the school, enhance and attract lecturers from developing countries...


On this occasion, many groups and individuals of Cuu Long University received Certificates of Merit from domestic and foreign agencies and units.
Specifically, the Ministry of Education and Training awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 groups and 4 individuals with outstanding achievements in international cooperation and training in the 2015 - 2025 period.
The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports awarded Certificates of Merit to two groups and six individuals with outstanding achievements in training human resources for the Lao PDR.
The Development Department, Ministry of National Defense of Cambodia awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 groups and 3 individuals. Certificate of Merit from the Ambassador of Vietnam to Sri Lanka.
Cuu Long University, the first private university in the Mekong Delta region, was established in 2000 and has a history of 25 years of construction and development. The school currently has over 30,000 students. The school's staff and lecturers number over 1,200, including 70 professors, associate professors, nearly 250 PhDs, over 160 specialist doctors... accounting for 40.86% of the entire school's staff. The school currently trains in 4 scientific fields, with 38 majors, and over 80 majors.
