Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences 'shocks' with 22 billion VND in scholarships awarded to new students

The University of Science (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just awarded 22 billion VND in scholarships to new students with excellent achievements in the 2025 regular university entrance exam.

At the opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year held today, September 12, the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) commended and rewarded outstanding new students and awarded scholarships with a record amount of more than 22 billion VND to young talents.

Many outstanding faces shine in domestic and international arenas

This year's opening ceremony of the University of Natural Sciences marked the presence of more than 4,500 new students from 34 provinces and cities across the country, including many outstanding faces such as valedictorians, salutatorians of various admission methods, students who won international Olympic prizes, national excellent students, national science and technology competitions...

The two top students in the admission method based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam of the school are Truong Van Hung (computer and information technology group) and Huynh Tuong An (artificial intelligence group) both achieved 29.75 points in block A00.

Along with that is runner-up Nguyen Thanh Cong from Ho Chi Minh City National University High School for the Gifted with 29.5 points.

In the admission method using the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam, Tran Nhu Khai (computer science - advanced program) scored 1,106 points, becoming the valedictorian; the runner-up was Phan Nguyen Tuong Vy (data science and statistics) with 1,091 points.

In particular, many new students have affirmed their talents in international academic arenas: Le Kien Thanh - gold medalist of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2025) was admitted to the Computer Science major (advanced program).

Le Phan Duc Man - silver medalist of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2025) was admitted to the Computer Science major (advanced program).

Cao Trung Quan - fourth prize winner of the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF 2025) was admitted to the Computer Science (advanced program) and was admitted to the Artificial Intelligence major.

In addition, many candidates who won first prizes in national math and computer science competitions also became new students of the school this year, such as Vo Thanh Hai, Do Gia Huy, Nguyen Dang Khang, Le Minh Nhat...

More than 22 billion VND in scholarships, a big boost for young talents

Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Le Quan - Principal of the school - affirmed that the new students are the "golden seeds" that society entrusts to the school.

In order to encourage and create the best learning conditions for students, this year the school has set aside about 22 billion VND in scholarships for new students with high achievements in the entrance exam. Of which, there are 11 scholarships worth up to 320 million VND each, equivalent to the entire tuition fee for 4 years of study.

This is the year with the largest scholarship scale ever, demonstrating the efforts of the school and the alumni and business community in nurturing and accompanying young talents.

"Scholarships are not only rewards but also trust and encouragement for students to overcome themselves and mature in their university journey," Mr. Quan emphasized.

Four-year full scholarships were awarded to freshmen who were valedictorians of the school, and to students who won international and national Olympic prizes.

New student with difficult circumstances Thai Mac Tuong Vi (admitted to the Information Technology major, English enhancement program, scored 27.75 points) was also awarded a full 4-year scholarship for her excellent achievements and spirit of overcoming difficulties.
