Learn from the world's leading technology hubs
Recently, a group of Vinaconex officers and engineers completed and received certificates for a practical course at Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU, China), one of the world's leading training institutions for railway engineering.
The program is within the framework of cooperation between Hanoi University of Civil Engineering and SWJTU, aiming to help Vietnamese students access modern railway design, management and operation models.

Vinaconex engineers attended specialized seminars such as design, construction and operation management of high-speed railways; research on signaling, dispatching and safety systems.
The students also visited the superconducting maglev train laboratory; visited and surveyed the Chengdu-Chongqing railway line, which has a design speed of up to 450 km/h; and worked with CRRC Ziyang, Unittec and Chongqing Railway Design Institute to discuss locomotive technology, signaling and intelligent operation.
According to Vinaconex representative, this is not only a short-term practical training course but also part of the human resource development strategy to prepare core competencies for the development of high-tech transport infrastructure and help Vietnamese engineers understand the technical process, management and practical operational organization to apply in Vietnam in the near future.
Aspiration to master technology
Vinaconex is one of the few large construction enterprises in Vietnam that has strongly shifted from the role of a construction contractor to an infrastructure - technology enterprise, focusing on investing in people and knowledge.
Along with participating in the construction of the North-South Expressway, Long Thanh Airport, and urban projects, Vinaconex continues to identify the development of a modern infrastructure engineering team as the foundation for entering the global competitive stage.

Vinaconex's proactive coordination with Hanoi University of Civil Engineering to open a training course for level 7 engineers specializing in High-speed Railways and Urban Railways demonstrates early and thorough preparation to anticipate the boom of the railway industry.
The practical course in China gathered 34 students, combining theory, practice in the country and practical learning abroad. Vinaconex assessed this as a training model that is highly appreciated for its practicality, contributing to the formation of a team of Vietnamese engineers capable of taking on core roles in key infrastructure projects, instead of depending on foreign experts.
Vinaconex representative commented: “The proactive training and access to advanced technology by domestic enterprises will help Vietnam narrow the gap in technical capacity, reduce the cost of hiring foreign experts, and at the same time form a new value chain in the railway sector from design, production of materials, signals, to operation and maintenance. This is the premise for Vietnam to not only build high-speed railways, but also operate its own high-speed railways.”

According to the Project on training and developing human resources for Vietnam's railways by 2035, with a vision to 2045, in the 2025-2030 period, the railway industry will need at least 35,000 human resources, including engineers, experts and technicians, to serve key projects such as the North-South high-speed railway line and the metro system in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
By 2035, the training scale will double to about 70,000 people, including thousands of engineers specializing in design, construction, electromechanical, signaling and maintenance operations.
With a long-term vision and sustainable development strategy, Vinaconex proactively prepares high-quality human resources for the high-speed railway and modern infrastructure sectors.
As high-speed railways, metro lines and urban infrastructure are deployed in the coming decade, it is the generations of engineers trained today who will become the pioneers in creating a new face for modern, safe, sustainable and international-class transportation in Vietnam.
