According to forecasts, from this afternoon (October 22), due to the impact of storm Fengshen (storm No. 12), Da Nang City will have heavy to very heavy rain, many low-lying areas are at risk of deep flooding. Vo Thi Sau Primary School is located in a high position, which was "steady" during the historic rain on October 14, 2022, so many people come here to park their vehicles to avoid property damage.

A representative of the school's Board of Directors shared: "The school is located on a high ground and is not flooded, so we thought we could help the people somewhat. A flooded vehicle will be very expensive to repair, especially a car. Therefore, the school decided to open the school for people to park their vehicles to avoid flooding, just hoping that the people will be safe and there will be less damage."

The school also carefully reminds people when parking to move slowly, line up their vehicles according to the security guard's instructions, and leave a contact phone number. The school provides parking completely free of charge and does not accept any support from the people.

Education sector proactively responds to storm No. 12

On the same day, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City issued an official dispatch informing all preschool children, students, and trainees in the city to stay home from Wednesday afternoon (October 22) until the end of Thursday (October 23) to proactively respond to very heavy rain and storm No. 12.

Educational institutions that organize boarding are required to proactively announce drop-off times, arrange teachers and management staff to take care of students until parents come to pick them up; at the same time, strengthen management of boarding and semi-boarding students, and not let students go home without ensuring their safety.

For private universities and vocational training institutions, the Department of Education and Training requires them to proactively decide on students' learning based on actual situations, ensuring absolute safety.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training also assigned localities to decide on whether students should stay home from school, and to proactively prepare online teaching plans in case of prolonged adverse weather. Many wards and communes such as Hai Chau, Hoa Cuong, An Khe, Hoa Khanh... have announced that preschool, primary and secondary school students will stay home from October 22 until further notice.
