This morning, May 22, Quang Tri province solemnly held a memorial service and burial of 12 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Savannakhet province (Laos), searched for and gathered during the dry season of 2023 - 2024.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense , Deputy Head of the National Steering Committee 515 - Standing Office of the Special Working Committee of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; Deputy Governor, Head of the Special Working Committee of Savannakhet province Ling Thong Seng Ta Van; Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Dao Manh Hung; members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Standing Office of the People's Council, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee attended the ceremony.

At the memorial service, the delegates respectfully offered flowers and incense to pay tribute to the heroic martyrs. In a solemn atmosphere with the sacred music of “Hon si tu”, with infinite gratitude, the delegates respectfully bowed before the souls of the martyrs, the outstanding sons of the Vietnamese people who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the People, for the noble international mission.

Reading the eulogy at the memorial service, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Special Working Committee of Quang Tri Province Hoang Nam affirmed: The Party, State and People are extremely proud and infinitely grateful to the heroic martyrs, previous generations and generations of revolutionary soldiers who sacrificed themselves to gain and maintain independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland.

With the attention and direction of the Special Working Group of the Governments of Vietnam and Laos, the Ministry of National Defense, the Command of Military Region 4; with the traditional morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", to contribute to easing the pain and loss of relatives of heroic martyrs, in recent years, Quang Tri province and Savannakhet province have been carrying out the work of searching for and bringing thousands of martyrs' remains back to their beloved motherland.

This welcoming ceremony is the 38th since 1994, once again affirming the affection and responsibility of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of the two provinces of Quang Tri - Savannakhet towards the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their blood for the independence of the two nations, for the happiness of the people of the two countries.

Quang Tri province expressed its sincere gratitude for the good feelings and enthusiastic, selfless, pure and meaningful assistance of Savannakhet province that helped Quang Tri province successfully complete the task of collecting martyrs' remains in the dry season of 2023 - 2024.

Particularly acknowledging and appreciating the selfless work of the officers and soldiers of the 584 Martyrs' Remains Collection Team, the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command, who overcame many difficulties and hardships to bring the martyrs to their resting place. Fulfilling the honorable and sacred mission entrusted by the Fatherland and the families of the heroic martyrs.

At the same time, it affirmed that the sacrifices of the heroic martyrs have added more color to the national flag, contributing to strengthening the solidarity and loyal friendship between the people of Vietnam and Laos forever; forever engraved in the history of the two nations, and eternally grateful and admired by the people of the two countries.
