Urgent response to storm Kalmeagi in Truong Sa special administrative region

Faced with the complicated and unpredictable developments of storm Kalmeagi (storm No. 13) that is likely to directly affect the Truong Sa archipelago, Brigade 146, Naval Region 4 has proactively deployed plans to prevent, combat, and respond to the storm, ensuring absolute safety for people, vehicles, and weapons.

Units stationed on islands in the Truong Sa special zone have urgently reviewed and strengthened disaster prevention and control works; fully stocked up on materials, food, and fresh water; prepared safe shelters for fishermen and arranged forces on duty 24/7 to support and guide ships and boats to anchor safely when the weather turns bad.

By noon on November 4, more than 300 fishing boats with over 3,000 fishermen had been guided to take shelter from the storm on islands with ports such as Song Tu Tay, Sinh Ton, Truong Sa, Da Tay... The islands have provided over 20,000 liters of fresh water, many essential necessities and arranged temporary accommodation and meals on the island for fishermen during the time affected by the storm. The forces regularly visit and encourage fishermen to take shelter and safely overcome the storm together.

On the islands, officers, soldiers and forces are actively coordinating closely with local officials to support people in reinforcing their houses, tying down vehicles, and moving people and property to safety. Units strictly maintain on-duty regimes, regularly update and issue notices on weather conditions, rain and storm developments; at the same time, support fishermen with food, fresh water, medical care, and ensure a stable life in conditions where storms may last a long time. Rescue forces and vehicles are always ready to mobilize in case of emergency, not to be passive or surprised.

Along with that, Brigade 146 coordinated with Border Guard forces on the islands to unify response plans, promptly called on boats to enter safe shelters, and determined to ensure the safety of fishermen's lives and property.
