Communication to improve population quality for more than 2,400 people

Since the beginning of the year, Muong Khuong District Medical Center has implemented communication activities to improve population quality for more than 2,400 people.

Health station staff provide consultation in the community and at the commune health station.

Communication and behavioral change counseling activities for target groups such as pregnant mothers, women giving birth; youth, adolescents; the elderly to reduce gender imbalance at birth, reduce early marriage, incestuous marriage, the situation of girls under 18 giving birth; increase the rate of prenatal screening and newborn screening; pre-marital health check-ups; increase the rate of health check-ups for the elderly in the community.

Muong Khuong District Health Center also provided free contraceptives and organized timely, complete, and convenient provision of reproductive health care and family planning services. In the first phase, 1,812 people were examined and treated for gynecology; ultrasound was performed on 578 people and fresh cervical smears were performed on 188 people.

To promote propaganda activities to improve population quality, Muong Khuong District Health Center also organized communication and nutrition consultation talks under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction in 2024 in ethnic minority and mountainous villages. Pregnant mothers and women were advised on the importance of nutrition in the first 1,000 days of a child's life. Medical staff guided mothers in choosing nutritious foods and preparing them properly, introducing essential nutrients in locally available foods and food groups for children's daily supplementary meals.
