Direct communication, effective way to prevent and combat the harmful effects of tobacco

From early October to mid-December 2025, Regional Medical Centers in Can Tho city coordinated with educational institutions, businesses, agencies, units, and organizations to organize direct communication sessions on preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco.

This is a practical activity to strengthen the work of preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco and implementing the Law on Prevention and Combating the Harmful Effects of Tobacco.

At the live communication sessions, students, workers at factories, enterprises and people were provided with basic knowledge about types of cigarettes, especially electronic cigarettes; ingredients in cigarettes, the harmful effects and diseases caused by cigarettes on active smokers and passive smokers...

At the communication session, students, workers and people had their questions directly answered about cigarettes, the harmful effects of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, etc.

The propaganda sessions help raise awareness of not using tobacco, join hands to prevent the harmful effects of tobacco, contribute to a smoke-free environment; at the same time, create a change in awareness, change attitudes and behaviors about tobacco use, thereby reducing the rate of tobacco use, reducing the rate of illness and death due to diseases related to tobacco use among workers, laborers in particular and in the community in general.

According to the plan, by the end of 2026, the units will organize 30 thematic talks on building a "Smoke-free school" model at schools; 9 thematic talks on smoke-free environments in communities and 9 thematic talks on smoke-free environments in factories and enterprises with a total of 10,980 attendees.
