Upon receiving a request for support from the Department of Culture and Society of Dai Xuyen Commune, the Hanoi Center for Social Affairs and Charity quickly connected and mobilized the Thien Tam Fund to support Thanh Mai with 30 million VND. The gift was a timely source of encouragement, helping the father and daughter to confidently continue their journey of fighting the disease.

Thanh Mai’s story is just one of thousands of children with special circumstances that the Center reaches out to and supports each year. There, it is not just numbers, but also the small lives supported by sharing, love and responsibility from the community.

According to the report of the Hanoi Center for Social Work and Children's Rights, in the first 9 months of 2025 alone, the work of mobilizing resources for children has achieved remarkable results. The Center attracted the participation of 202 organizations and individuals, with a total budget of more than 9.26 billion VND, reaching 102% of the yearly plan.

From that precious resource, 4,821 children in special and difficult circumstances in the city have received support with a total budget of more than 6.79 billion VND. The support programs have been implemented in a diverse and practical manner, including: (1) Regular support and scholarship awarding: Awarding regular support funds from Thien Tam Fund to nearly 900 children in 17 districts and towns; giving online English scholarships and gifts to 50 children who have overcome difficulties and studied well in Phuc Tho and Quoc Oai. (2) Medical assistance: Supporting congenital heart disease surgery for 6 children; coordinating with major hospitals such as Hanoi Heart Hospital, E Hospital... to organize screening for congenital heart disease, motor and facial deformities for thousands of children. Of which, 32 children have had successful surgery. Not only stopping at material support, the Center also conducted 29 consultations for 579 children in special circumstances and at risk of falling into special circumstances in 6 districts. A total of 809 cases related to children were received and handled, reaching 93% of the yearly plan. At the same time, communication work was promoted: More than 100 news and articles about the Center's activities were published; 8,000 communication handbooks on preventing and combating child abuse were issued, spreading the message of child protection to every family.

Building a sustainable foundation for child protection work

Not only providing direct support, the Hanoi Center for Social Work and Child Protection also focuses on improving system capacity and community development - core factors for effective and sustainable implementation of child protection work.

The center organized 4 training courses on social work skills in schools for 200 teachers and staff in Soc Son district; deployed 32 classes on life skills and career guidance for 1,600 disadvantaged children in many districts. In addition, 20 conferences on child protection knowledge were organized, attracting more than 2,000 parents and caregivers to attend.

Emergency assistance is also maintained 24/7. From December 15, 2024 to September 14, 2025, the Center received and supported 318 homeless people, reaching 90% of the annual plan. All subjects are cared for, guaranteed nutrition, disease prevention and control, and participate in therapeutic activities, recreation, and community integration.

From now until the end of 2025, the Hanoi Center for Social Work and Child Protection aims to continue promoting communication about Hotline 111 and hotline 0243.2233.111, and strengthen the mobilization of the Hanoi Children's Fund to expand its support network. The Center also plans to provide counseling for 121 children in special circumstances in Van Dinh commune (Ung Hoa), and organize meaningful programs such as giving regular support from the Thien Tam Fund...

More than the numbers of achievements, the activities of the Hanoi Center for Social Welfare and Children are a living proof of the sense of responsibility, love and humane belief spreading from the silent people. Each gift, each program contributes to lighting up more dreams, sowing seeds of happiness for children - the future owners of the Capital.
