The Bollywood film crew is expected to carry out their work until mid-August 2025. The Phong Nha – Ke Bang area once again became the focus of domestic and international media attention when the Bollywood film crew came to make an international film project called SILAA. Not just a simple art event, this event also once again affirmed the strong brand of Phong Nha – Ke Bang on the global film map.
It is no coincidence that film producers from the billion-people film industry - Bollywood chose Phong Nha - Ke Bang as one of the main settings for the romantic action film SILAA, with an investment budget of up to 4 million USD. The scenes will be filmed at a series of natural wonders of Quang Tri such as Son Doong Cave, Tu Lan, Hang Tien, Tan Hoa - places that are already world- famous for their pristine, majestic and unique beauty that cannot be found anywhere else.
Before SILAA, Phong Nha – Ke Bang had appeared in many prominent film projects, the most notable of which was the Hollywood blockbuster Kong: Skull Island (2017). With wild and mysterious footage at Chuot Cave, Cha Noi Valley, Son River… it was praised by international media as an “undiscovered paradise”, becoming the top choice for filmmakers looking for a pristine natural setting.
After Kong, a series of international TV shows, music videos, and tourism TVCs from the Korean, Japanese, and American markets have also come here. Many nature documentary crews from BBC, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel have filmed special episodes in this area, spreading the image of Phong Nha – Ke Bang globally.
The SILAA film project is directed by renowned producer Rahul Bali – who has a wide influence in the Indian film industry. The film brings together stars Harshvardhan Rane, Sadia Khateeb, Karanveer Mehra and is expected to be released in about 1,000 theaters in India, with an audience reach of up to 8 million people, not to mention the reach on digital platforms and media.
With a market of 300 million Indian tourists traveling abroad each year, SILAA is expected to be a bridge to promote the flow of tourists from India to Quang Tri, especially when the majestic natural images of caves and mountains here are integrated into the film's captivating love story and action.
The continued selection as a filming location for large-scale international projects has been elevating the Phong Nha – Ke Bang brand, not only as a world natural heritage but also as the natural film studio capital of Asia.
From a locality that once had difficulties in transportation and infrastructure, Quang Tri has made a strong transformation by developing sustainable eco-tourism while creating conditions for international cinema and media to exploit and accompany. The event of welcoming the SILAA film crew is an important step, continuing the chain of successes, creating a long-term ripple effect for the local tourism industry.
