After the article "Successful fetal catheterization for Singaporean pregnant woman: The whole family, pregnant woman and team burst into tears", many readers sent their congratulations and expressed their pride that our country's healthcare system is increasingly developing, on par with developed countries in the region and the world.
This pregnant woman became pregnant after 10 years of infertility, but unfortunately the fetus had a severe congenital heart disease and was at risk of stillbirth. She was referred to Ho Chi Minh City by a leading hospital in Singapore for fetal heart catheterization.
On May 28, a miracle occurred, the 25-week-old fetus was successfully catheterized by doctors at Tu Du and Nhi Dong 1 hospitals (HCMC).
Proud of the country's developed medicine, conquering many achievements
Many readers expressed excitement, tears and happiness when reading about the journey of two fetal interventions for the Singaporean pregnant woman. At the same time, they sent congratulations to the team, the pregnant woman and her family in particular and the country's medical sector in general.
Excited and tearful, reader Duyen Ngo shared: "Congratulations to the mother's family, congratulations to the medical team at Tu Du and Nhi Dong 1 hospitals. I am so proud that Vietnamese medicine is increasingly developing and conquering many new achievements."
"We must admit that the clinical skills of Vietnamese doctors are extremely good. Other countries have better facilities than us, but people are the deciding factor," wrote a reader with the nickname Lao Gan.
According to reader Huynh Van Triem, "fetal catheterization is an unimaginable and extremely difficult technique. Yet the pregnant woman, her family, and the medical team successfully overcame the difficult moments. It's truly miraculous!"
"This not only requires high technical skills and expertise, but also a strong will and a steely spirit... to complete this special mission" - a reader with the email address nguy****@gmail.com expressed.
Travel and medical destination
The event of a series of successful fetal heart catheterizations at Tu Du Hospital shows that this is an important milestone in the journey of developing fetal medicine and specialized techniques in Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time affirms the determination to develop into a specialized medical center in Southeast Asia, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
Reader Kha Tu believes that this event opens up a new hope for the Vietnamese medical industry, which is medical tourism combined with treatment. This will be a promising industry in the future when the medical team is increasingly improved in skills and modern facilities.
According to Khuu Dat, this achievement has brought fame to the world , not only proving the ability of doctors at Tu Du and Nhi Dong 1, but also bringing fame to Ho Chi Minh City.
"We have the right to believe that the city will become a modern, excellent medical center of the region," reader Khuu Dat wrote.
Reader Anh Vu pointed out the fact that every year many people with good economic conditions choose to go to Singapore for medical treatment. Yet in this case, the famous Singaporean hospital referred their people to Vietnam for treatment. "This proves that Vietnamese healthcare is very good," reader Anh Vu commented.
Sharing the same sentiment, reader Ba Phi wrote: "Too wonderful! A hospital in Vietnam was introduced by a hospital in a country with advanced medicine. And success in the most difficult of times has proven that trust."
Reader An raised another question worth pondering: Vietnam's team of leading medical experts is on par with the world and the region in some fields, but why do some patients in Vietnam who have the means go to Singapore for treatment?
The catheterization of a 25-week-old fetus (weighing 600 grams) for a Singaporean pregnant woman is the most difficult case among the 9 fetal heart intervention cases at Tu Du Hospital so far.
Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai - Director of Tu Du Hospital - said that this case of fetal heart catheterization was "an extremely complicated and difficult consideration" when deciding to stop the first fetal heart catheterization.
Under the direction of the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Tang Chi Thuong, and the team's utmost determination, new plans were established for the second fetal catheterization and the results were successful.
