On the afternoon of June 2, the Phu Yen Journalists Association coordinated with the Vietnam Press Museum to organize a scientific seminar with the theme "The press accompanies the Party Committee and People of Phu Yen in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland".
This is one of the activities towards the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
At the seminar, the role of journalists and the challenges facing the development of journalism in the country in general and in Phu Yen in particular in the 4.0 era were also pointed out by delegates.
In her speech at the seminar, Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Thi Thuy Hang - former director of the Center for Journalism Training, Vietnam Journalists Association - said that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the past 3 years has posed many urgent issues for press agencies, journalists and the media in general.
From a simple support tool when it was first born, AI has gradually become a true partner in the process of creating content, optimizing production and enhancing interaction with readers. AI has become an essential element in the development strategy of current newsrooms in many countries…
To fully exploit the potential of AI and at the same time protect the core values of journalism, media leaders need to take a strategic approach and see AI as a strategic partner. This requires a change from mindset to organization, from policy to training, and from infrastructure to content.
Journalist Nguyen Xuan Hong - head of the editorial office of the Government electronic newspaper - said that in the context of increasingly toxic information appearing on cyberspace, journalists have an important role in implementing policy communication.
He emphasized: Every journalist working in policy communication must be an expert in policy and law, and be able to search for and highlight the values of each policy in their journalistic works to convey to the public.
Moreover, each policy communication work must truly be a "support for trust" in the context where the public is exposed to too much information, including fake news and fabricated news, every day.
Speaking at the seminar, journalist Pham Doan Anh Kiet - Executive Vice President of Phu Yen Journalists Association - affirmed that along with the Vietnamese revolutionary press for a century, the generation of journalists in Phu Yen is very proud of the 79-year history of formation and development.
As a part of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, Phu Yen press has been constantly developing. Through 6 congresses, Phu Yen Journalists Association has grown from only about 18 members in the beginning to 145 journalist members.
