Both teams entered the match full of excitement and determination after their successes in the round of 16.
Despite being the away team, Nam Dinh played confidently with the support of many fans in Thanh Nam. They took the initiative to attack and dominated the game throughout the first half.
However, strikers like Hendrio, Coutinho, and Van Vu were unable to create truly dangerous situations. Hoang Duc and Jaha helped Viettel control the midfield quite well, but they also did not have many opportunities to approach the opponent's goal.
The game only changed in the second half when coach Thach Bao Khanh's team increased the pace of play. In the 56th minute, from Van Hao's assist on the right wing, Jeferson scored a tricky shot that tore the roof of Nam Dinh's net.
In the 72nd minute, taking advantage of a passing error by Nam Dinh defenders, Jeferson got the ball and passed it to Nham Manh Dung to tap in, raising the score to 2-0. This was also the final score of the match, thereby bringing Viettel into the semi-finals.
In the quarter-final match yesterday afternoon, the first division team PVF-People's Police made a surprise when they defeated Hoang Anh Gia Lai at Pleiku Stadium. The police team took the lead in the first half, but unfortunately let the Gia Lai team equalize in the first half. Entering the penalty shootout, the PVF-People's Police team won 5-4 and advanced.
Previously, in the two quarter-final matches on the evening of July 10, the two teams Topenland Binh Dinh and Dong A Thanh Hoa won the right to enter the semi-finals after winning against Hong Linh Ha Tinh (2-1) and Phu Dong FC (1-0) respectively.
In the semi-finals taking place in September, Viettel team will meet Topenland Binh Dinh team and PVF- People's Public Security will meet Dong A Thanh Hoa.
