From “foodtour” tourism product to Hai Phong Food Festival 2025

Following the success of the foodtour tourism product, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City will organize the Hai Phong Food Festival in 2025 to create more highlights for the city's tourism.

Hai Phong “Foodtour” has emerged on the Vietnamese tourism map in recent years as a highlight, creating a new and attractive feature for the coastal land rich in cultural traditions, not only famous for its long history but also known as a convergence of rich culinary culture, imbued with identity.

Different from the elegance and sophistication of Hanoi cuisine or the sophistication and gentleness of Hue cuisine, Hai Phong cuisine has a liberal and individual style, a characteristic formed through the process of cultural exchange and assimilation. Dishes such as spicy bread, crab noodles, crab spring rolls, su din, pate, chrysanthemum tea or coconut coffee... have become unforgettable culinary "symbols" for locals and tourists.

Hai Phong foodtour map - an indispensable pocket guide for tourists when coming to the Port City.

Promoting that unique value, in recent years, Hai Phong city has coordinated with units and businesses to develop the "foodtour" tourism type - making cuisine an attractive tourism product. Hai Phong culinary map was released, introducing a series of delicious dishes and addresses of famous restaurants, helping tourists easily experience the typical flavors of the cuisine of the port city. Foodtour has quickly become a unique tourism product, thereby contributing to promoting the image of Hai Phong city to domestic and foreign friends.

Ms. Ha Phuong, representative of a unit with products in the foodtour program in Hai Phong City said: “For me, developing foodtour services, as well as foodtour programs in the coming years, is an urgent need. Accordingly, we are the units that are serving foodtours mainly in Hai Phong, also contributing to promoting many beautiful images of Hai Phong, cultural features, historical information of Hai Phong to friends not only domestically but also internationally”.

The first Hai Phong Food Festival will take place from May 10-12 at Hai Phong Station and Nguyen Du Flower Garden, bringing many impressive experiences of the typical cuisine of the coastal land, rich in cultural identity.

In order to widely introduce and promote the culinary brand of Hai Phong to domestic and foreign tourists, and at the same time respond to the Red Flamboyant Festival and celebrate the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City organizes the "Hai Phong Delicious Food Festival 2025". Here, people and tourists will enjoy and experience famous street foods such as baguettes, banh beo, banh da cua, nem cua be, Kien Thuy braised sardines, chrysanthemum tea, coconut coffee... along with typical OCOP products of districts in Hai Phong City. In particular, at the event, top chefs of Hai Phong city will demonstrate the preparation of special dishes such as the famous banh da cua of Hai Phong, Tuong Long mountain root hotpot, Cat Ba grouper smoked with volcanic rocks...

The festival also had the participation of booths from Hai Duong province, introducing specialties such as green bean cake, Tu Ky crab, Kiep Bac lotus wine, and Con Son honey.

"Hai Phong Food Festival 2025" takes place from May 10 to May 12 at Hai Phong Station and Nguyen Du Flower Garden, with 25 booths.
