Most teachers are still assigned to teach single subjects; tests are given separately by subject. The most basic difference is the common textbook cover and the same score entry into a subject called "integrated".
This is the third year since the Ministry of Education and Training has implemented the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary level. The first two years of the program were implemented in grades 6 and 7, with natural sciences, history and geography taught according to separate knowledge and topics. Therefore, there are some subjects that students study for a few periods at the beginning of the year and continue studying in the second semester.

Because of such shortcomings, on October 10, 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Official Dispatch No. 5636/BGDĐT-GDTrH guiding the development of teaching plans for natural sciences, history and geography, suggesting allowing sub-subjects to be taught in parallel. The subject teacher will teach the knowledge of each subject, and the teacher will test it.
Therefore, for the past few months, teachers have been able to continuously teach their subjects, and students have also been able to continuously learn knowledge.
Mid-term and final exams for periodic tests are also conducted independently, so teachers no longer have to assemble knowledge content into a common test and wait for each other to grade.
However, if implemented as it is now, integrated subjects are no longer "integrated" as the overall program and subject program objectives that the Ministry initially oriented. Because almost everything is now being done independently between sub-subjects, the only thing in common is that 2-3 sub-subjects share the same score of a subject.
Meanwhile, localities continue to send teachers for training to obtain certificates according to Decision 2454/QD-BGDDT and Decision 2455/QD-BGDDT issued by the Ministry. However, in some places, teachers who have completed training are still assigned to teach the subjects they were previously trained in at teacher training colleges. Obviously, integrated subjects still have many difficult and intractable problems and contain many contradictions.
Up to this point, the new 9th grade textbooks have been basically completed by the units and publishers. However, there are still many concerns about the future of integrated subjects at the secondary school level.
