In Group C after the first round of matches, the Vietnamese women's team is ranked third, with no points like India but is above them thanks to a better goal difference (-1 compared to -7), while the top two positions are Japan (3 points, +7) and Uzbekistan (3 points, +1).

The Indian women's team is currently ranked 61st in the FIFA rankings, 27 places behind the Vietnamese women's team. The last time the two teams met was a friendly match before the 30th SEA Games in November 2019. In that match, the Vietnamese women's team won 3-0. However, under the leadership of Swedish coach Thomas Dennerby, the Indian women's team has made many changes and progress. Coach Thomas Dennerby is the one who led the Swedish women's team to third place at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup.

To prepare for the match with the Indian women's team, the Vietnamese women's team just had a walk to get acquainted with the Lokomotiv stadium. After visiting the Lokomotiv stadium, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team moved to the training ground to complete tactical exercises. Although the travel time between locations was quite far, the whole team still maintained a happy and excited atmosphere to start the training session.

Midfielder Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy affirmed that the whole team had learned a lot from the first match and had the best preparation for the match against coach Thomas' team. "We have learned many lessons after losing to Uzbekistan. The match against India will be a decisive match for Vietnam. The whole team is confident in achieving the best result in this match. Everyone also talked and understood that this is the last tournament that coach Mai Duc Chung leads the Vietnamese women's team. Therefore, we sisters also encouraged each other to try our best, put all our spirit and best concentration into the match against India and Japan; to demonstrate the spirit of Vietnamese women", midfielder Bich Thuy shared.

Although rated higher, the Vietnamese women's team will certainly not have an easy match against the Indian women's team. Not only has the opponent made progress recently, but the Vietnamese girls themselves are not feeling excited after the loss to Uzbekistan. Hopefully, the Vietnamese women's team will continue to overcome difficulties to get good results in this afternoon's match.
