On the evening of May 15, the Vietnamese women's team faced U22 Myanmar in the final match of the 32nd SEA Games women's football. In the 12th minute, from a pass from her teammate, Tuyet Dung escaped down, taking advantage of the hesitation of the Myanmar goalkeeper to pass the ball to Huynh Nhu to finish into an empty net.

The early goal forced Myanmar to attack, they even changed their personnel when the match had just passed 18 minutes. However, the white team's attacks did not show the necessary sharpness, except for the shot that hit the crossbar of the Vietnamese goal.

On the other side of the front line, the defending champion demonstrated a calm yet flexible playing style thanks to the mobility of Huynh Nhu, Bich Thuy, Tuyet Dung... However, coach Mai Duc Chung's students were also stuck in finding more goals.

After the break, Myanmar continued to attack while Vietnam played slowly and steadily, waiting for quick counterattacks. The white-shirted players continuously attacked, but the red-shirted defenders still played solidly, calmly resolving all the problems in front of Kim Thanh's goal.

The game continued to be a tight affair in the following period, with both teams having equal chances but only Vietnam was able to capitalize on them. In the 76th minute, the substitute player dribbled vigorously before taking a tricky shot to double the lead for the home team.

In the remaining minutes, Myanmar played hastily, unable to create any breakthroughs and the score of 2-0 remained until the end of the match. This result helped the Vietnamese women's team win the 8th gold medal and the 4th consecutive championship, something no team in Southeast Asia has ever done.

The achievements of the Vietnamese women's team have surpassed Thailand's, who won the championship three times in a row in 1985, 1995 and 1997. In terms of the total number of titles, Vietnam is also far ahead of Thailand, who have won the gold medal a total of five times.
