The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 101.42 - down 2.36 points compared to April 3, 2025.

The price at banks increased sharply, surpassing the 26,000 VND/USD mark before the US imposed a tax of up to 46% on Vietnamese goods. Specifically, Vietcombank listed the USD price at 25,640 - 26,000 VND/USD, an increase of 180 VND compared to early this morning. Eximbank increased the USD price to 25,610 - 26,010 VND/USD for buying and selling.

According to Rong Viet Securities Company, the increase in the value of the USD in 2025 comes from many factors such as President Donald Trump's policy of increasing import tariffs, affecting global trade and creating pressure on exchange rates. In addition, the slow recovery of the world economy along with rising inflation in the US, causing the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to maintain high interest rates, increasing the value of the USD compared to other currencies.

Meanwhile, the trade balance and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows maintained a trade surplus, but the slowdown in FDI inflows and remittances could reduce foreign currency supply, putting pressure on the exchange rate.
